Yes, go to version 18E.

18E does not create the .xml files, but it's a bug not a feature.

I don't think Carlo put an option to disable the .xml file creation because he intends to use the files in future projects. Actually, I think he is already using the files for the external Commercial Detect app to see what channel a show was recorded on and compare it against the list of channels you chose to ignore in your commercialdetect.cfg file (or whatever it's called).

Hello,
I'm a complete newbie to all this, can someone shed some light on what to do with the Cayars.

So far I have downloaded Cayars18E, CoreFiles2 and Java2.
I have extracted them to their specified locations.
Run sage and told it to use Cayard18E.

Every time I load sage I keep getting an error message to debug.

Is there something I have missed out?

I have the latest Microsoft.Net and Java Runtime.

Those of you who are running 18E and are getting .xml files created are you running sage as a service?

I am runing Sage as a service. That may be a factor in the ".xml files not being created" bug.

I tried to not run it as a service but when I do that I loose all of my custom IR codes. I'll have to look into that further when I have more time.

Hurdy,

If the problem is the CommercialDetectManager, try not using it. So, when you tell Sage to use Cayars18E, I am assuming you are going to
Detailed Setup->Advanced->STV to change it.

Do you get the error as soon as you do this? If not, go to Detailed Setup->External Setup-> Comskip->Background Processing and set it to internal.

even if this doesn't work, I think another problem is that 18E doesn't have all fo the files you need. I could be wrong, but just to make sure, try downloading Cayars17 which should be at the beginning of this thread and then install 18E over it, meaning overwrite any files that need to be overwritten. Then try loading the STV. You actually might want to start with this first as it may be possible that CommercialDetectManager might be one of many problems.

Let me know if this helps

Local Weather

Any luck on getting the local weather to work again? If it is due to weatherroom.com disabling their xml feeds, is there another weather site that we can redirect it to?

Ok I have put all cayars in the sage directory and now I dont get the debug message when sage loads up. But now I am getting a CDM error when I start playing a movie from the Imported Videos directory.

Any ideas?

Hurdy,

can you be more specific on what the error is? If you have Sage loading now, tell it not to use CDM by changing to internal commercial processing for the time being (as per steps above).

But explicitly write out teh error so Cayars can see it since CommercialDetectManager is code that he wrote.

ComercialDetectManager.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0x478 (1144), Thread id=0x474 (1140).

* Note - This only happens when I try to watch an imported video file.

Ok I have told it not the use Interal Commercial Processing, and yet again I still get an error, but this time its different.

Message is as follows:

CommercialDetectManager.exe - No Debugger Found.

Registered JIT debugger is not available. An attempt to launch a JIT debugger with the following command resulted in an error code of 0x2(2).
Please check computer settings.

cordbg.exe !a 0xd04

*Note - This message changes from movie to movie.

for example another movie displays an error of:

CDM.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services.

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0x508 (1288), Thread id=0x910 (2320).

Frequent Application Fault in ComSkip

As I first reported in Post 3031 about a month ago, I'm getting an application fault crash about once or twice per day in ComSkip. It's been doing it since CDM 18D2, but I'm still seeing it in 18E. The Event Log (Application) entry is shown below.

This fault occurs at seemingly random intervals, not associated with any other activity on the computer (e.g. not the same time each day, no other use of the computer, etc.). This computer is a dedicated PVR, so there's nothing else going on.

When the fault occurs, the DOS window remains open and it appears that CDM is still running (polling continues), but no further commercial skipping occurs. If I check in Task Manager, there will be TWO instances of CDM running. If I leave the PVR in this state, eventually additional faults will occur and there will be multiple instances of CDM running (I've seen as many as 5-6 after a few days of not checking). Once the first fault occurs, though, CDM stops tagging commercials correctly.

In order to get commercial skipping restarted, I have to use Task Manager to kill all running CDM processes and restart CDM (or just reboot the computer), then delete all partial comskip files.

This is happening with such frequency that commercial skipping has become nearly worthless, and over half the time that I try to watch a time shifted show I find that no commercial tagging occurred.

Is anyone else seeing this? Could identification and correction of this fault be a high priority for CDM?

Here's the message recorded in the Event Log (Application):

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 3/12/2005
Time: 6:15:08 AM
User: N/A
Computer: PVR
Description:
Faulting application commercialdetectmanager.exe, version 1.0.1890.36912, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 1.1.4322.2032, fault address 0x0001f96d.

Hurdy,

Sorry I wasn't more clear. CommercialDetectManager.exe is the EXTERNAL comskip. So I want you to USE the INTERNAL.

UI Graphics

I was unhappy with the TVGuide graphic included with release 17 particularly on a high res screen at higher resolution, so I recreated it with an Aqua-like effect in 2 flavors.

[right-click to save as, and save to your ../SageTV/STVs/OriginalV2/Cayars folder. If you choose the 2nd, you'll need to rename it "tvguide.png", either way overwrite the original]

Enjoy!
