Angry Channel guide problem

Hey everyone -

I just set up Cayars v17 on Sage 2.2.7. Here's my setup:

Server running in "pseudo client?" mode -- starting up to system tray, running cayars v17 on sage 2.2.7

Sage TV client running cayars v17 on sage 2.2.7

Everything works great except -- I can't select live tv channels through the "live tv guide". When I hit "watch now" nothing happens. I can select "view live TV" and the last watched channel comes up. Once it does, I can change channels by punching in the numbers or with pgup/pgdown. Just can't get the live tv guide to work. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

-Surtr

It seems as though Carlo has changed his signature and no longer has his donation site up. Anybody know why?

@Surtr

There are two ways to get around this.

1. If you do not use EXTERNAL PLAYER for viewing files, then goto Detailed Setup --> External Setup --> Use External Players for Non-Native File Types Only --> Disabled. "WATCH NOW" should now work.

If you do use it

2. Then when in LiveTV guide, highlight the show you want to watch and hit "ENTER", Hitting OK n my Hauppauge remote also does the trick.
But "WATCH NOW" will still not work with this option.

I found the same problem. But I also learned that if I did it with my wireless mouse it failed, but if I used my Haupauge IR remote it worked. You might try an alternate input device for watching TV. With my mouse clicking does nothing. With the IR remote, the first click starts the channel I selected to start recording. The second click allows me to watch that channel.

@AMCOOPER

The problem people are having is when they go into the show information screen and try to hit the "WATCH NOW" button. As I explained in my post, when hitting either ENTER or OK on remote it works fine.

dvd_maniac -

Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight.

Does "watch now" from the program info screen work with cayars 17 on sage 2.1 perchance? Anyone get the "watch now" button from the show info screen to work?

--EDIT--
I just read your post more closely. Since I don't use external player, it looks like I can get that to work by disabling the external player function. Might have to knock off work early today to go try it Thanks again dvd_maniac!

OK just to clarify on some confusion the real donation link is/was <link removed>

I'm guessing the <link removed> link was where he first started putting it originally then updated it to the other link.

commercial skip problems

First off - dvd_maniac: your suggestion on getting the "watch now" button to work worked perfectly -- I just disabled the "external viewer for video" and now it works perfect.

So I was having another problem with commercial skip: on my clients for most shows the purple bars weren't showing up on the OSD, but they were on the server. I was using UNC pathnames but still nothing. Turns out the problem was this: at some point prior I was not using UNC paths (when the problem shows recorded) -- the original drive letter for those shows must be stored in the wiz.bin or something. Anyway, all new recording works with comskip on the clients just fine. For the older ones I had to map a drive letter on the client to match the original (server) drive letter, then everything works. Just wanted to throw this info out there in case anyone else has similar probs.

Is there any way to call VLC instead of media player for unreconized file types? It plays more including ISOs of DVDs so it's more useful if it can be made to work.

Just edit the file \SageTV\STVs\OriginalV2\cayars\External\VideoPlayer.cmd

The default one is:

Code:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" %1 /fullscreen /prefetch:1
Just edit that to whatever you want...

Edited

Nevermind - my DNS went down or something, and my site, along with my hosting company's site were down. Everything's fine now though.

Download away.

crashless,

The index.htm is the old donation list that is causing some of the confusion and probably should be removed.

Is he alive? fried by lightning? paying his hosting bill?

ah, I see. I'll copy the donation.html to index too, just to avoid confusion. We originally did that to protect the directory from giving a list. I guess Cayars forgot about it.

As far as what he's up to, I have no idea - But I'm sure he has a good reason. I'll see if I can find out.

Just have the index point to the real html page? Of course, I have no idea how that is done.

I contacted him recently & posted about it in post #3256, above.

Try turning off 3D accelleration in the detailed setup menu. It's a SageTV bug I think.
