I'm not sure about your recording error, but the compress option does not work 'out of the box' you have to configure it. There should be a thread somewhere on how to do that.

thanks, I found this ffmpeg thread. http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ghlight=ffmpeg
it's rather long, so it will take a while to sift thru it.
I'm a little confounded becuase in one post, cayers said that compress was supported 'out of the box' in version 16. I read that as 'install cayers 17 and you're done.'... guess not..

thanks for the pointer..

edit: if someone wouldn't mind posting the few steps to get compression working, I'd appreciate it.

So, what did happen to cayars?

I thought it was system problems due to lightning strike?

Is he just not answering anyone?

He did have problems a while ago with a lightning strike, but he hasn't been reachable for some time now, so no one is really sure what happened.

I already posted about this. I talked with Paypal and have been able to verify people who paid. PM your paypal account to me if you donated and didn't get the file location. I'll verify it and PM you the location.

Do NOT take this as a green light to make more donations.

The documentation for Cayar's STV (here) has this information in it.

Well Carlo said he got a job, right? Maybe Frey hired him to help them develop 3.0, but he's not allowed to talk about it until the release...

I don't think an NDA would prevent him from politely addressing the group.

If they release Studio to the public, I bet you will see an incredible number of custom STV's released (300 was an exageration, of course). I'd probably create one. Ultimately though, being able to modify someone else's work to better suit the individual would be the most common use. Few people would start from scratch. Nielm, mlbDude, and Cayars all borrowed. So, perhaps I should say there would be many more variations to existing STVs. Therefore, co-operative, public development would be beneficial.

Thats certainly a possibility, but I have to agree with briands in saying that I wish he would drop a "Hello guys, I am not dead." for us.

He could just be sitting on the sidelines laughing at everyone wondering where he is, while using version 22?

Of course it's possible that Frey told him that current STVs will not work with v3. I'd actually figure that most of them wont work with v3 since some of the stuff added with STVs will be part of v3.

I don't think he's gonna drop in and Say "HI", Cause then there will be another 4000 posts asking him questions and giving him hell.

That is my biggest fear... Either the existing STV's will be incompatible with v3, and/or Studio will not be released in the future and the existing version is also incompatible with v3.

The NDA that the people that have Studio have signed, would stop them from explaining what is going on, and the frustration of it all could cause them to simply drop out.

I really think that with the number of people using Cayars STV, Frey should really try and get someone else to take the project over. All of these complaints cannot fair well with people investigating before they buy.
