Are there other items to set to get "RIP a DVD" to work?

You need to install DVDdecrypter (search the thread) and edit the DVDrip.bat file in your SageTV directory.

I don't know what will happen if you diable the LiveTV option and it runs on a recording that isn't finished. I did all my testing on a previous version and Jere released this before right before I built the ZIP so I included it.

For things related directly to ComSkip.exe you'd be best posting in the ComSkip thread. But now that you mention it. I to have noticed ComSkip running in "slow motion". We'll have to get to the bottom of this cause it's not running anywhere near "real-time".

After going to ver 14 I noticed this morning that my scheduled calls to ffmpeg_convert had failed. Running it manually generates plenty of exception while parsing the xml file. Taking a look, there seems to be an errant <TV> tag inserted.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

I've posted an update that should correct this. Let me know how it goes.

First of all, I love the freedom of this STV...

I'm also having the same problem as davey_fl with the black square in the middle of the preview video when in the menus, any fix for this? I have release 14, if it matters

Are you guys using capturing CC data in your files?

Are you displaying CC data in the OSD?

If either answer in NO then make sure to disable detailed setup->Interface->OSD Options->Auto Overlay CC Support.

That should fix your problem.

Sorry I'm so late in getting back to this. Holidays took up more time than I thought they would. Anyway, I'm putting folder.jpg in the root of that DVD directory (ie, if my directories are DVD/Lion King/VIDEO_TS the folder.jpg is in DVD/Lion King).

Any thoughts on why these aren't showing up any more?

Thanks,

KevPriest

It needs to be in the VIDEO_TS folder.

RIP a DVD

I found the DVDdecrypter program on the web, and installed it. I am able to RIP the DVDs now, but the program RIPs into a DVD format, not a MPG file.

I was looking for a way to get DVDs into the SageTV system. So, "RIP a DVD" isn't the feature I would need, since it does not get the DVDs into the SageTV system with MPG files.

I saw several DVD to MPEG converting programs on the web. Perhaps one of those programs would be a way to get DVDs into the SageTV system. Does anyone have any program recommendations about how to convert from DVDs to MPG files?

Yes, it's a "DVD RIPPER" and not a "DVD Converter". The purpose of this IS TO GET the DVDs into SageTV. Take a look at Appendix I of the SageTV manual. This is what this feature does for you. So you will be able to have a collection of your DVDs available inside of SageTV.

Just to followup on this.

I got a response from Frey's support saying:
"Sorry about that. SageTV only supports up to 15 or the keep all function."

He said they would see about changinhg it later so that a number >15 does not put a 'random' number in (aka clamp it at 15).

So moral of the story: Don't put in a number >15 in the "Keep at Most" setting of a favorite!!

Also note, tried it with the OriginalV2 STV and it does it on that STV though - so doesn't seem to be a Cayars bug per se.

Noticed I was about full up on X-Men cartoons, so was going to change the favorite and increase the number of episodes it keeps before deleting.

So, from the recordings screen I:
1. Right arrowed to an episode
2. Right arrowed again to get to the episode details
3. Selected FAVORITE OPTIONS
4. Selected the KEEP AT MOST SETTING (was set at 15)
5. Entered 20, and clicked OK.

It changed it to *7* and deleted 8 episodes of my show!!!

I typed in 30, and it changed it to 14.

Something is seriously messed up with changing the number of episodes!!! I finally was able to enter *31* and get it back to *15*.

Kind of ticked it deleted my episodes, but since the setting got changed to 7 (even though I entered 20), I guess it did what it was supposed to do...

Any thoughts?

Based on this I changed the code and verbage in my STV for version 15. It now reads: "Enter the maximum number of recordings from 1 to 15 that should be kept on disk for this Favorite. Enter 0 to keep all recordings."

I also added 2 checks. If the number entered is less then 0 I set it to 0. If the number entered is over 15 I set it to 15.

This should keep us out of trouble.

I have a problem,
In the tvguide all is well, but when I go to tv rordings, and view the info I noticed a "null" on the left.

What does it represent? I have xmltv and I parse my own tvguide, for episodes I use the <subtitle> field and not the episode num field.

could this be the problem? or what else should that represent.

This is new, I didn't see it I think in ver 13,14.

I think this should write the episode number (desc in my case) but it doesn't while on the full info it does.
what do u think?

Yes, it is using the Episode field. I made this an option. In your case you will want to turn this off. Detailed Setup->Enhancements->Show Episode Numbers.

A request for the next one, maybe?

When I set a manual record for a show, there doesn't appear to be any way to set the live comskip. Maybe I missed it. Basically it appears that currently you have to wait until it starts recording and then watch it in order to set the live comskip. I wonder if that could be added to the record options menu? That way the slowish live comskip could start as soon as the show starts.

Still a happy camper here. Thanks.

You have a mismatched STV and menu file. Shutdown SageTV and the download file again. Then go back into sage and make sure you hace the version 14 STV selected.
