Possible to use STB Firewire for channel changing only?

I'm having all sorts of STB Firewire related problems, so I'm considering dropping it for awhile. I don't have the time to put into it & I just need to make things work. WAF is in the gutter right...

RC3 no audio from firewire STB, audio fine on PVR-500

I just upgraded from 3.0.5 to 3.0.14RC3, and I no longer have audio on content recorded via firewire STB connection. The audio works fine from my PVR-500s. Audio & video from the problem files...
