I had a similar problem but not quite the same....

I had a similar problem but not quite the same. What I had to do was unplug the HD300 and let it sit for a minute then plug it back in. After that playback was good again.

MPEG2 playback problem

I ran into an odd problem this past weekend. I cannot seem to be able to playback MPEG2 files via the HD300. If I convert the file to MPEG4 then it plays back no problem.

I have not had a chance...

You might also want to check your FIOS box's video setup. I know mine are configurable for output resolution. There might be something there if overscan doesn't work.

I use AMD procs just because of cost. From my experience the horsepower is about the same between the two. Since I transcode a lot the front side bus is always where I concentrate on.

So apparently there was a cable problem. I used another coax drop in the room to hook up the NIM and everything came back to life, no problems. Odd but its figured out.
