Enabling the "Canonical Partners" sources made the ia32-sun-java-bin package show up as available. It'll be a while before I can test if this fixes (some of) the issues on that PC...

Yep, every button on the remote had at least 2 codes, usually 3 but one button seemed to have 5 codes. Detection angle, range, button press length, etc. all seem to be working fine with the default...
