Too easy
Linux Mint 7 and 8 32 bit and 64 bit already doe this on a live CD, which is a one click install, unless you want to dual boot. No drivers to configure, no software to install, it all does it for you...

Funny thing is that I can see the Sagetv in my windows and linux shares, but sagetv cannot see my windows xp or linux shares. Do the servers/computers/devices have to be on the same switches? there...
