It is possible to bypass the login. I did it on the test VM I created for Amazon to test the app. If you do this though, than anyone could in theory get into your SageTV server remotely.

Try setting streaming to fixed and go into the transcoding settings and change it to always. This will force it to transcode. This will likely fix the problem if the cube does not like the content.

Did you try my media format plugin or sagetvtranscoder plugin. Both of them use a much newer version of FFmpeg than core sage to detect the media.
