Hmm, I'm 100% sure I had h.264 acceleration under Win XP with an NVIDIA 8600 then an 260 with CoreAVC. I'm talking high bitrate (5000+ kbps) 720p peaking at 5 or 6% of my CPU (Intel Q8400).
