Transcoder executable is missing!!!

I tried out the new 6.3.6 beta. Unlike the production version, this one spits up the following when trying to access videos downloaded off of the Internet or in the Imported Video folder:

Same network segment

If you're loading the MVP firmware via TFTP (the normal process), the MVP has to be in the same network segment as your DHCP and TFTP servers.

Mandriva 9

I currently have SageTV running on Mandriva 9. I've also had it running on various versions of Fedora, Ubuntu, and older versions of Mandriva.

I've got SageTV running under Mandriva. The IVTV install was negligible as the card was detected during install and the kernel modules were installed then. The most difficult piece that I had was...

It depends

I would argue that it all depends on what you're comfortable with and what else you plan to do with the box. I have SageTV running on the same Linux box as Asterisk, Icecast, MPD, pyTivo, Cidero,...

WOL is actually a BIOS function. While you should be able to do it with your server as the target, you won't be able to wake the MVP. A work around might be to hook the MVP to an X10 outlet.

Linux only

The setup you described in your question is what I have. The backend uses a Hauppauge PVR-250 card, controlling a cable tuner. The only front-end that I use is the MVP, attached to a television...

I'm not a good example to judge by but I find SageTV obscenely easy to install. The most difficult part (I imagine) is getting the Hauppauge card installed properly (there's plenty of howto's for...

I got that error when I was messing with the headless switch in the command line. For some reason, the MVP doesn't like when the server is started with "headless=false". When I changed that switch...

I will admit, however, that SageTV is the reason that I bought the second MVP and am considering the purchase of a third. Between the MPVs and a couple NSLU2s with alternate firmware, there aren't...

MVP uses

One thing to remember is that SageTV isn't the reason that MVP's exist. They were actually designed for another purpose and have been around long enough that people have come up with alternate...

Missing pre-requisites

You may also want to go back and ensure that you have the necessary files installed to support transcoding. For Linux (I'm not sure how it's done in Windows), you want to make sure that transcode...

Path issue?

I seem to remember getting that issue when the real JRE was later in the path than one of the clones. Please check that the JRE bin directory is first in your path string.

Check your path

Make sure that /usr/java/jre1.5.0_11/bin is in your $PATH, preferably first.

One thing to avoid is using the Java clones. Make sure that you get the Run-Time Environment from Sun. (This was the only major difficulty I had in getting SageTV to run under Linux.)

If you installed JRE in an odd path, you'll need to add /where/ever/you/installed/JRE/bin to the path variable in ~/.bashrc (or whatever rc file you use for your favorite shell). Don't forget that...

Missing Java or path?

I had similar errors when I didn't have the path set for the JRE. Assuming that you have IVTV (or whatever it is that you use to encode) installed properly:

1) Grab the latest JRE from...
