Will Hauppauge pvr 500 mce work with windows 7?

I've read that the hvr 2250 is compatible with windows 7, but I was wondering if anyone has used the 500 mce with 7. Do the recent drivers from hauppauge make the 500 mce compatible with 7?

Should I just buy the hvr 2250?

How does sagetv work with windows 7?

I use both the PVR500 and HVR2250 with Vista x32 and x64 and it worked just fine. Since most of the Windows 7 drivers are the ones built for Vista, either one of those cards should work.

My PVR-500 does not work with Vista64

I get a blocky tuner signal when running this card which i just purchased for my Vista64 server. I wanted a PCI card with dual analog tuners and this was perfect. Not so perfect is that after i installed some drivers i found on Hauppauge's site, my server blue screens and won't boot anymore. argh!

I've been reading something about the PVR-500 not working with Vista64 and 4GB RAM so after i fix the blue screen issue, i will downgrade (sigh) to 3GB RAM.

I wil also try the Windows 7 wintv7_cd_1.2.exe driver package someone posted a link to somewhere in this forum.

Does anyone have the WinTV PVR-500 card working with Vista64?

Has anyone managed to get this card working in Windows 7 (64) or Vista (64) with 4 GB of RAM?

I'd hate to have to buy another tuner if there are drivers floating out there that work.

No luck here...a recent call to Hauppauge tech support resulted in "time to buy a new card" statement...(and an offer to send in my old one for a discount)

PVR500 won't work with 4GB of RAM. You need to reduce the RAM.

hey there's a way i try all day long trying to make this work so i really hope this works!!! i have windows 7 32 bit and i do have 4gb ram and everything!
you have to go to control panel and get in to *administrative tools* inside double clic *Servises* in there look for *windows media center receiver service* right clic and and select *properties* in the "general" tap find Startup type that should be manual if not switch it yourself. then down tjhere is a button where it says "start" so clic it Service status is suppose to say started now everything is good to go apply, ok close everything go to media center task, settings, general, windows media center setup, set up tv signal, and u take it from there i hope this HElps it took me a dam day ! Enjoy!

WOW! the pvr-500 is listed as being supported with Windows 7 x64 but I am finding that my shows are all blocky. This is a shame since I have 8GB in my server. Any updates on how to fix this?

No, and I don't think hauppauge is even going to be working on it. As their site says, it DOES work in win7 x64, just not with 4GB or more of ram (which it also says on their website). The only way people have gotten it to work is to 'burn' (disable) the extra memory. But that's not really much of a fix.

Has anyone tried USACOM's suggestion? I am about to install win 7 64 on my server and it has 6gb of ram. One of my cards is a pvr-500 and the other one is a HVR-2200. I really want this to work,Otherwise Im gonna have to start buying USB tuners.

USACOM's suggestion really doesn't have anything to do with the amount of RAM...His suggestion is to avoid a conflict with Windows Media Center.

If using 32-bit Win7, you can install up to 4GB RAM in your PC (Windows will actually only be able to access something a little less than that). It should work fine with the Hauppauge cards.

If using 64-bit Win7, your best bet is to only install 2GB or 3GB of RAM. If you install 4GB or more, the Hauppauge drivers will not work properly.

At one point, I did have 4GB installed in my PC and found a way to tell Windows to ignore 1GB. It seemed to work for a while, but if I changed channels a few times while watching live TV, it would crash. I ended up removing a stick of RAM and just using 2GB and all is well. I have 2 of the PVR-150 cards installed. These use the same chipset and drivers as the PVR-500.

Well it seems to be working pretty well by limiting the amount of ram to 4059. Ill be dumping the pvr-500 here as soon as I get time work on the system again and replacing it the 4 HVR-950Q USB tuners I just purchased. So as long as it works a little longer for the WAF it will be all good.
