Recording Issue
Hi,
I am having some issues with recordings with my SageTV UnRaid system. The latest is an example of what I have seen a few times now. I was recording the SeaHawk/Rams football game and had the recording padded for 1 hour extra (2-6PM). I went to watch the game about 5 hours after it started and noticed it still showed it was recording. I started the recording and it went straight to 6PM my time to start and the recording bar was red and would not let me backup to the game. I went to my PC to look at the recording and saw that is was only 2GB or so and was only the local news (6PM) when I played on my PC It seems like the NFL game was overwritten when the system kept recording? This has happened a few times to cut off the very end of a game and if you are a sports fan you will understand how annoying this is. Also in case it is important I went on the SageTV system to stop the recording. It did not have the option to "stop the recording" and only had record this program etc. Any thoughts are appreciated. |

Not sure about your recording issue, but you have got to install this:
https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57364 It keeps the recording going until the game is over--you don't have to manually add any padding. To me it's a must-have for sports fans.

Thank you - I actually have this installed and I know what you mean - it works great. I put the padding on after it "did not" work a couple times in the past and cut off the ending.
![]() Wonder if there is a conflict from manual padding and SRE? |

If you had saved all of the log files after it happened we could trace it. Somehow it got thinking you were watching “live tv” and deleted the files that were already “watched.” Did you by chance have a second client watching it the whole time? Was it a favorite or manually scheduled recording. Were there spare tuners at the time?

sagetv_*.txt in the directory where the Sage executable is. There are 4 of them with sagetv_0.txt being the most recent and sagetv_3.txt the oldest. This many days later it’s likely well past but if you have this issue again or can recreate it on another show you don’t care about, save them off somewhere.

I had another incident where a recording of a football game was all red on time bar and not viewable. It was the Seahawks/Raider game yesterday and it started at 11AM and with the manual 30 minute padding I have on it ending at 230PM. Not sure what to look for in the log to see what happens to the recording. Any help is appreciated.

Well here's the "what". I'm looking further into the "why".

I do not know which plugin it might be - I don't have a lot installed. Live PVR Data Server? Sage Recording Extender? These two are related to auto extending and might be issue with my manual padding? Thank you for all your time and help! |

A little more info:
1. The Seattle game was only ever set to record from 11-2, not 2:30. Code:
Sun 10/14 11:00:02.455 [Seeker@3e9643f7] Seeker.startRecord(HDHomeRun HDHR-US Tuner 10157CAA-0 on 192.168.0.15:9000 A[4514267,4514180,"NFL Football",34435@1014.11:00,180,T], currTime=Sun 10/14 11:00:00.003) currRecord=null switch=false Sun 10/14 11:00:02.457 [Seeker@3e9643f7] MediaFile created subfile:/var/media/tv/NFLFootball-SeattleSeahawksvsOaklandRaiders-4514267-0.ts MediaFile[id=4609987 A[4514267,4514180,"NFL Football",34435@1014.11:00,180,T] mask=TV host=tower encodedBy=HDHomeRun HDHR-US Tuner 10157CAA-0 on 192.168.0.15:9000 KNINDT format=MPEG2-TS 0:00:00 0 kbps []] Code:
Sun 10/14 14:00:00.198 [AsyncChannelSetRecordingTimes@31a15568] Called Seeker.timedRecord(startTime=Sun 10/14 11:00:00.000 stopTime=Sun 10/14 14:00:03.198 stationID=34435 recur=0 recAir=A[4514267,4514180,"NFL Football",34435@1014.11:00,180,T] hostname=null Sun 10/14 14:00:00.199 [AsyncChannelSetRecordingTimes@31a15568] Added:ManualRecord[A[4514267,4514180,"NFL Football",34435@1014.11:00,180,T] time=Sun 10/14 11:00:00.000 dur=3:00:03] I'm guessing something is wrong with whatever plugin that injected that manual recording. Don't the recording extending plugins just add padding and not create new recordings? Also, the "CD: StreamGetter" message above is from Commercial Detector and isn't the cause but instead another victim of the missing file. Last edited by wnjj; 10-16-2018 at 12:52 PM. |

This is all very interesting. I have an NFL football favorite setup with 30 minute padding. I added the padding because the SRE or Live PVR plugin did not work extending a game that went long.
As I understand these plugins to work they only pad and do not record or re-record. The game last night did something funny too and I will get that txt file when I get home in case it provides additional clues. Are you familiar with these two plugins I listed to know if I need both fro sports padding? Thank you for all your help! |

Here is a txt file for the San Francisco/Green Bay game last night - It started at 6:15 and normal end would be 9:15PM. I had 30 minute pad and something happened around 9:39 or so where the past recording of the game went from watched color to red on the time bar and the file was gone. I was watching this game about 20 minutes behind or so. I attached a screenshot of the recording after it turned red on time bar - The recording is showing only 6 minutes long although the entire game was there and viewable before 9:39 |

If you're not using SRE why not remove it and the LivePVR data? Although they've been rock solid for me on NFL/NHL/MLB.

I was not using it because it failed me once and I was not sure if it was up to date with current development.
Do you need both of these plugins for auto padding of sports events? |

Yes, you need both. But I'm saying if you're not using it remove both and see if it fixes your manual padding issues. There might be a conflict.
