Plugin: Podcast View

This plugin adds a filtered view for downloaded podcasts in your library.
First, there is a new menu item under Videos from the main menu.
There is also a new selection item in the options panel in the Videos menu.

1.1- update includes support for audio podcasts with a filter in the Music menu.
1.0- initial release for video podcasts only

1.1 now supports audio podcasts. There is a new item under the Music menu, as well as the ability to select the filter in the options panel.

Do you need a plug-in to download the Podcasts along with this Plug-in? The reason I ask is that I thought there was a Plug-in downloader, but it had an issue with using a lot of Java (bug)?

The PodcastRecorder plugin can be used to set up the auto downloading of podcasts set up as favorites. My understanding is that tmiranda is working on updating it to fix some bugs that were reported. I don't use it to automatically download favorites, since I ran into those issues, but it works great to download individual episodes by pressing Record without having to play it first.

The alternative is to download the podcast episodes individually without Podcast Recorder. You can begin to play one, pause it, then when it is fully downloaded by Sage, press the Record button. Sage will ask if you want to save the podcast. The downloaded file will show up in your video or music library.

I use iTunes located on my PC for music and subscribed podcasts located on a WHS box then direct Sage to use the iTunes folders (I think that HP's iTunes server implementation might be a bit more elegant tho...but this method is fairly simple).

My next step is getting podcasts menu item (along with DVDs) to the Sage home screen. I think I can do that w/the Dynamic Main Menu(?) add-in.

I'm not sure what you are asking for. Are you looking to have the option of not having the Music > Podcasts menu displayed?

Let me know specifically what you are looking for, and I can try to work it in. No promises though.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I created a directory called Podcast with all my audio podcasts. I set Sage to use it as an import, and specified audio only. They properly appear under your Podcasts view.

However, they also appear under the music view (because they are audio). I'd rather not have podcasts mixed in with my Barry White. Ira Glass doesn't make for good lovemaking, you know?

Ha ha! I wouldn't want to be responsible for ruining the mode by having Ira Glass slip in between some Barry White.

I actually don't use Sage to play back music, so I never considered this feature, but it does make sense. I'll see what I can do.
