Disable Functions On the MVP Client

Is there any way you can disable some functions form the client. I am putting a client in for the kids. I dont want them messing with the favorites or recordings. Basically just for viewing... I saw something about it in here but cant find it now...

I have a similiar setup here. I use the MCEXCON stv, which allows you to remove just about any items you want from the menus (including setup.)

Here's a link:

They can. Your MVP will run off a separate SageTV directory, so you can have all your settings unique to each instance. IE: Kid's room - no setup & MCEXCON, Your bedroom - cayars & admin access.

I recommend Meekell's stv for MVP users. He has implemented a few things to speed up response time when watching a show.

folder structure

is there a standard when putting stv's in as far as where the folder goes and where the stv file goes. And for core files do the cayars core interfere with the mce... core files and java1 with java2?

About 2/3 of the way down this page Matt has a 'recommended' folder structure .jpg that you should look at prior to setting up your folders.

Hope this helps!

My question was concerning different stv's. They all seem to have core files. Do you just install each. Or, do they interfere with each other... And is there a standard for the stv folders.

The STV's are all or none. EITHER you can use Cayar's OR you can use MCEXCON.

The only exception to this are the few plugin modules the Nielm has written. You can use those in multiple STVs. However you can't use any of them in Cayar's because of the way he has modified his STV.

Make sense?

Jason
