Jumpy video on anything other than ts files

Hi,

I've had this problem for sometime now, but it's getting really annoying.

When I watch any video file other than ts (mpg4, mkv, avi etc.), after approx. 15 minutes of watching the video starts to tear itself up. Parts of screen are refreshed visibly earlier than other parts. It looks like someone took scissors to the screen, cut it into several parts horizontally and then shifted the parts slightly. The situation get worse from there to the point of uselessness. The only way out is to stop the playback, wait for couple of seconds and restart it again. After some 10-15 minutes the situations repeats itself.
The sound track is not afflicted in any way.

First I thought it could have something to do with my video card, but the replacement with NVIDIA 1050 Ti 4GB had no effect.

I tried various different STV configurations for video to no avail.

So currently if I want to watch a large mkv or avi file (a movie) I have to use VLC which runs flawlessly.

Is there anything I could try to rectify the problem? Has anyone ever come across something like this?

Thanks
Frank

Frank, could you please list your hardware. If you have a server different than the client, please list that too.

I do not have any clients. I have server only.

AMD-XF 8 cores - 3.6 GHz, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA 1050TI 4GB, STV 9.1.9.778, Win10-1809, lots of disks, but the problem is not dependent on the disk the file resides on.

It looks like some buffer somewhere gets full and is not emptied properly.

As I said, VLC does not exhibit the problem, so it does not seem to be HW dependent.

Thanks
Frank

Since your using Windows 10 and Sage 9.<something>, I will presume that your using LAV filters as your Decoder?

Have you tried disabling the the SAGE Splitter?

When I installed LAV Filters, I install the whole bit Video, Audio, and Splitter. I then disabled the Sage splitter. Prior to disabling the Sage splitter, I had similar issues with playing MKV files.

I have not found settings for STV splitter anywhere. How do I disable it?

I have LAV decoders set for everything. The problem occurs with any settings for decoders.

BTW, What is Direct Show? If I set that, my picture completely disintegrates after about 15 minutes of playback.

Thanks
Frank

I found the registry info and disabled the STV splitter.

Since then I have not had any more problems.

Thanks for your help.
