I think there has to be some sort of signal coming into the box over the optical audio connection.

Okay, this bad toslink optical cable idea may have been part of the problem. After swapping the HDPVRís optical out for a spare, response seemed to quicken. Also made one of the power supply replacement cables and am getting 5v from the computer server. Testing begins again, so letís hope this is it.

I had a bad toslink cable on one of my boxes and had nothing but trouble with glitchy and failed recordings. The cable even 'looked' fine but it wasn't.
