Using USB-UIRT for blasting and remote?

I'm pretty sure that I used to be able to use a single USB-UIRT for both blasting my STB's and for remote input (with a hauppauge 45 button remote) at the same time. Now whenever I have it set to blast and try to set it as the remote source it tells me that it can't find it, and if I set it up to work as the remote source first and then try to use it in a tuner setup it tells me the same thing. I know I'm not crazy, I've done it before. Is it something that's changed in V7?

Thanks

nevermind, found the solution here:

Turns out under Vista and later you need a special DLL that isn't included with the regular driver. I would have just deleted the thread, but I think it'll make it easier to find for others.

If I recall reading in another post (forget which), you need a beta driver from usb-uirt guy in order to do both. Thinking it has to do with Service Mode and possibly Win 7

You'll also need to aim the USB-UIRT so that it can 'see' the set top box and the remote control from your viewing area. Many years ago, I had SageTV configured that way. Switching to a 'headless' configuration with media extenders eliminates that problem and is the best way to setup SageTV. The USB-UIRT is then just used for blasting and the hand held remote control codes pass from the media extender through Eithernet to your SageTV computer.

I also tried Vista Ultimate. The OS alone performed at about 1/4 of the speed compared to XP on the same hardware. Windows 7 performs at about the same speed as XP, sometimes faster sometimes slower, depending on what you are doing. I dropped Vista before using it for anything since it is just too dog slow! You'll see a big performance increase if you switch to Windows 7.

USB-UIRT has a jack for an external IR emitter. Maybe that helps if using it to receive.
