Sagetv v7 to V9 upgrade problem
This is a windows installation. i was running v7 and Because of the EPG from sage being turned off. I decided to upgrade from 7 to 9. i ran the windows installer and it looked like to worked fine. but i did a search and saw where i needed to delete lucene-*.jar. i found a file called lucene-core-3.6.0.jar and moved it out of the jar folder. then tried to start sage and i got a java error and it wouldn't start. I put the file back and restarted sage and it is back sitting with the "object backup database initializing" message. I saw where the fist time sage is started it can take a while to load. How long should i wait and what can i try next.
thanks Brian Olive |

I stoped the SageTV 32bit in task manager. and rerun the installer using repair. I then tried to restart sage tv. It has been sitting on the splash screen Object database backup initializing for and hour. What should i try next?

If it seems to be hanging on the splash screen, I would take a look in the sage log. It should say whether it is actively doing something or if it is stuck (and give a clue about why).

Uninstall Java through add/remove then run a repair.

The SageTV_0.txt shows that it's trying to access wiz.bin at
"C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV" even though all other mentiosn of SageTV seem to referamce "C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\" I guess its failing as the folder and file dont exist... Personally, I'd close SageTV and open "C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\Sage.properties" in notepad. Then find the lines at the bottom starting "wizard/db_file" and "wizard/db_backup_file" and change them to Code:
wizard/db_backup_file=C\:\\Program Files (x86)\\SageTV\\SageTV\\Wiz.bak wizard/db_file=C\:\\Program Files (x86)\\SageTV\\SageTV\\Wiz.bin

This guy seemed to have the same issue with the upgrade not matching the original install path:
