v7 service suddenly stopping
My sage v7 install has been fine for years until this weekend when the service is stopping and not restarting automatically. The log shows a parsing erring with the weatherunderground service. Here is the end of the log:

I can't find a weather plugin and I don't even use it. I didn't see any other errors. Is there anyway to remove the weather service and see if that fixes this crash? And why isn't it restarting like it is supposed too?

My suggestion is to upgrade to version 9 - the open source version. It gives you an EPG option with Schedules Direct that will not be ending later this year like the original EPG version will. It will also likely be a fix for your problem as well.

I know I'm going to eventually have to upgrade, but I don't want to do it until I can allocate a decent amount of time to the project.

All I want now is my sage working reliably again.

I was worried about upgrading as well. It was dirt simple on Windows.

1) I backed up my full SageTV folder (just in case).
2) Shutdown SageTV
3) Ran the latest v9 installer.
4) I re-ran the installer again immediately and selected "repair" (this was recommended to fix potential problems).

So far I've only problem I've run into is that I can't get SageTV to keep the weather units in Celsius. Apart from that, no problems in the couple of weeks I've been running it.

well I was hoping to avoid upgrading until I absolutely needed to (i.e. the guide data ended) but I guess that time has now come. I followed your steps and got v9 running, joined schedules direct and it seems to be working.

however the status bar at the bottom shows I have 2gb free and 0 coming up in the next 48 hours. I know I have stuff scheduled so this is a little worrying. I guess I need to read about what that status bar is actually for. I've never seen it before.

If your favorites have channels associated with them you will need to switch them to any and then back to the channel you had. I got no favorites scheduled for those favorites too. Changing them to any and then re selecting the original channel fixed it. I am just speculating but I wonder if the channel database number changed even though the channel name and number stayed the same and confused the scheduler. In any case my workaround fixed the problem for me. If you have no favorites with channels then try switching them to a channel and then back to any again. I appear to have had some of those favorites do it too but it wasn't all of them and I couldn't find a common cause.

I found where in the settings you can disable the menu header status bar and sort of fix the display. The first choice is something like display selected recording (or something like that). if you change it to disabled, the status bar shows believable info about the upcoming recordings. I just shut that status bar off.
