Not sure about .mpg, my recordings are .ts and they work - you can change an entry in the sage.properties file to save your recordings as .mpg or .ts. Also, I see that the 4K fire stick has hardware MPEG-2 decoding, but not sure about the non-4K versions. To download the sagetv app, I don't recall the exact procedure by I went to "apps" in the menu, pressed the microphone button and said something like "download sagetv app" and it found it -then I downloaded.

[QUOTE=
consumer.dynamic.default=opendct.consumer.FFmpegTransSageTVConsumerImpl [/QUOTE] the only line I have that didn't match was this one. I shut down both the sage and opendct dockers, adjusted the opendct.properties file to the above, and start opendct docker. Checked properties file again, and it has retained the FFmpeg changed. When I start the sage docker, I watched in notepad++ as the opendct properties file gets rolled back to: consumer.dynamic.default=opendct.consumer.MediaServerConsumerImpl I have never understood anything about transcoding, remuxing, etc. Is there some kind of program or something I have to put in place somewhere, or a setting in the sage props file?

That sounds right - not sure why the settings wouldn't stick - I am attaching my entire Opendct file in case that helps (note: I have a Ceton PCIe6 which I am using, a HDHR Quatro which I am using but also a HDHR Prime=not using and HDTC-2US=not using - so some entries in there don't matter) - the other thing is make sure when you setup video sources that you use the OpenDCT versions of the tuners - you may have two entries for the HDHR products).
Transcoding would be changing the video from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 for example - you probably don't want to do that, as most CPUs can only peform one or two transcodes in real-time - transcoding is handled by FFMPEG in OpenDCT, so the empty transcode profile = FFMPEG re-mux (basically re-frames the video/audio data) - you don't need another program in the middle it is handled by OpenDCT - you can try asking for help in the OpenDCT thread too.

On the computer, I found the app, and when I asked to "get" it, there was an option somewhere to send it to the fire stick. I couldn't find it via the Fire Stick interface, but maybe just didn't use the right magic words to search for it. I tried "SageTV Miniclient" "Find SageTV" etc.

I'm still looking into side-loading 1.35, which fixed the same problem on my Mi Box. I tried on the Fire Stick, but the installation failed.

Report on recent Sony TVs for SageTV Miniclient
I know I'm going back to one of the earlier posts in this chain but I've had very good luck using recent Sony smart TVs running AndriodTV to run the mini client.
Our streams are care of Verizon FIOS to Ceton cablecard (ethernet) remuxed by ENE's OpenDCT magic. Here's the kicker - we've been able to stream both live and recorded TV in full HD over out site-to-site VPN from PA to a remote island in SC. The download (Comcast) endpoint registers 75-150Mb/s file transfers at 45-65ms ping times. Admittedly if ping times peak over 100ms things get funky... Frankly the Sony TV has worked better for us than the Shield in testing with recent versions. Go Stuckless! |

Yes, but I can't say I've exhaustively looked for better options. I have plex, but really just use it for pictures. We dont watch movies all that often. I do like Sage's ability via BMT and Gemstone to separate movies from TV no matter the source or folder.
