Question Library Updating Woes

I have a weird issue I have been struggling with for a while.
I am using a Plex client along with my SageTV setup (mainly for 4K and HVEC files).

So I have my TV shows/movies being scanned by both my Unraid SageTV and Plex servers. Movies and TV show up proerly in both interfaces.

If I watch and delete a file file through the Plex interface - SageTV does NOT see that the file is gone and remove it from its listings. Instead it retains the listing but it shows as a 0.00mb file (obviously).

I thought that when Sage does it's library scans it should remove media listings for the files that no longer exist?

Can anyone help me with this so that Sage will remove the listings for files that are no longer there automatically?

I think the behavior depends on whether Sage sees it as a Recording or as an imported video and also whether it can see the drive the recording was stored on or not. Here’s how I remember it working:

If it is an imported video (or dvd or blueray) Sage should remove it if it is not found when you rescan.

If it is a recording, and Sage can see the drive (or network share) where the recording was stored and it can see that the file is not there anymore, it should delete it. But, if the whole drive is missing, Sage will assume that it was temporarily disconnected and will retain the info in case the drive is reattached. In this case Sage doesn’t need to see the exact same drive, but it needs to see something with the same drive letter or same network share name.

It also won't remove them if they are flagged as Archive

Thank you for the suggestions.

I saw that archive setting in BMT was set on - I will try with it off and see if it fixes it.

I really don't understand the concept of 'archive' and 'unarchive' recordings though ...

If it's set to archive then SageTV will not delete it if you're running low on disk space.

Thanks John - it was the archived flag that was doing it - I had a setting in BMT that imported tv episodes and set the archive bit.
I had no idea what that meant - since I unchecked that bit and cleared it on existing recordings then it works now as expected.
If I delete an episode in Plex then when SageTV scans it library it deletes the entry as the file is missing.
Thank you so much for helping me out with this.

Dwight
