SageTV acquired by Google

Is this for real or too many beers on my behalf?

Can we just have some assurance that SageTV will continue as a PVR software we can use? Bit worried that this means shutdown...

Congratulations to Jeff and the team who deserve the success!

I need to buy an HD300. My HD200 is dying. Anyone have any information on obtaining a new HD300?

And here I had just the opposite reaction. I set up a WMC7 system so that I could get Cable Card & HD Cable. I really miss Sage a lot. I'm hoping that this means that there will again be a good solution with Sage integrated with Google TV. If an HD solution better than Cable Card (and those *&%$Y Cisco tuning adapters!) comes out, I'm there! If it's Sage-powered IPTV, I'll dump WMC in a heartbeat.

I have a lot of faith in Google. In fact, if you read the announcement it all makes a lot of sense. Google is about open technology and Sage has been operated along those lines. This could potentially open up SageTV to many more people.

Congratulations to all at SageTV

Wayne

Let's hope so, I used to be a user of Meedio until Yahoo acquired it....

Although I'd be surprised if Google acquired SageTV to kill it, can't believe its a competitor to anyone it's more an enthusiast's play thing.

Google's Acquisitionof SageTV

What will this mean for things like comskip and the extenders? If the store is closing then where would we purchase extenders?

I have a very bad feeling about this, but I hope I'm wrong.

SageTV

I'm afraid that SageTV will will not be free (after purchase) any longer. Will Google charge a subscription fee? and their support is terrible if not any.

I used to use ReplayTV and it was great and was bought out and then shutdown.

Then I switched to SageTV GREATER!!!

RIP SageTV

The announcement just came out in the last day or so that as of the end of July the guide data for ReplayTV from "home base" will cease to exist. I've still got 4 ReplayTV's recording analog SD backups of my network programs for the times that my SageTV's HD-PVR's and/or HDHomerun's miss/screw up an HD recording.

Looks like I'll have either find alternative guide data for my ReplayTV's (semi-easy for the 2 newer 5040's, and next to impossible for the older 2020 and 3030's) or finally retire them.

Congrats to the entire SageTV team!

Congrats to Jeff, Dan, Mike & the rest of the Sage team.

I'm guessing that over the years as a small software company you've probably had more than a couple of "where is this going" moments. Very happy to see you guys get your (hopefully very large) payday.

Well deserved and definitely well earned. Looking forward to the magic now possible with Google's resources at your disposal.

P.S. the call for "developers" in the announcement was also promising.

I've been Googled

I am working on building a new SageTV server and Unraid server. I have the Unraid tweaked/finished, tweaked the power settings on the SageTV box, and was ready to install it. I downloaded a 7 beta and was going to purchase an upgrade key today and POOF SageTV is gone.

Boy, the rest of the links on the site are dead. Hopefully that is just a mistake.
