"Jaggies" when watching HD recordings!

I just upgraded my Sagetv system, and for some reason I get jaggies when watching HD content.

By "jaggies", I mean that any areas of detail have extreme stair-stepping, or zig-zagging lines. It almost looks like an 8-bit gif or something.

But here's the kicker. When I exit Sagetv and play back the recording using WMP, it looks fantastic. The menus and SD material look fine as well in Sagetv.

Has this happened to anyone? Here are my specs:

Sagetv 6.3
Windows Vista Ultimate
Nvidia 8500 card (hooked up w/ HDMI)
1080p resolution to a DLP tv
AMD BE-2400 processor
2G RAM
500GB HD
Hauppage HVR-1800 (PCI-E)
Time Warner QAM channels
Nvidia decoder

that's called "Tearing" - but jaggies is a definitely descriptive ;-)

try setting Sage to another decoder, or different setting of VMR vs Overlay

Sounds almost like a low-res image scaled up so you get aliasing artifacts, which might explain the jaggies. Is the jaggies just on certain things, or only sometimes ?

Tearing would have a perfect picture but get horizontal 'tear lines' in the picture, most noticable on fast vertical camera pans.

When you play back in WMP, check the properties of the movie you are playing. WMP will tell you the audio and video decoder you are using.
Make sure Sage is using the ones you are happy with.

From my previous posts I can tell you that VRM9 mode causes picture tearing.
Changing to Overlay fixes it, but I see it as a bug in Sage.
Because my testing shows that other players, MCE included, don't have tearing artifacts. (But maybe they run in Overlay mode too, not sure)
