DVD Ripping, Burning and OTR

How is Sage for DVD Ripping? Is it quick easy and does it have a nice simple UI? Same goes for burning, also is it possible to plug an analogue camera in and just start recording from it? Or are things like Intelligent Recording and the schedule not going to allow this?

Woah, that's a lot of questions, i'll field the DVD ripping/burning ones

Sage doesn't rip DVD's on it's own, but using SageMC STV or Cayear's STV you can use a batch file(included with Cayear's STV) to rip the movies very cleanly. It just files it in the <ripped DVD folder>/<disc name>/<video_ts> format. Then you just add the 'ripped DVD folder' to your library import list and Sage Plays them very smoothly.

As for buring, i've never tried it but in the SageTV Customizations forum you'll find the beta of a DVD burning plug-in in the Crashless's STV topic discussion.

Hope that helps.

Link to my STV that uses KJake's DVD burning is in my sig. The interface for burning is kinda klunky right now, but I'm working on it, and am confident I can smooth out the edges.

I'll be adding the ability to run external apps in a future version, so you'll be able to kick off whatever you want like EP said and rip things, or even run games.

As for capture from a camera - Sage probably isn't the best program for this. AFAIK, there isn't any interface to make a file captured this way easy to manage. You might be better off with the hauppauge software to capture the files, then put them in a folder for sage to read back. The problem is that there's no way to name the files specifically, or an easy way to control the in and out points of the files you capture. It isn't really in the program model. Think of Sage as a TiVo replacement. If you want video editing, I think there are other programs better suited for capturing like that.
