Gerry, Are you having any problems using this plugin with your MVPs?

My cell has a divert calls feature on it, and I thought maybe if i forwarded it to some kind of voip web service thing, this could eventually be setup to work? Does anyone have a setup like this?

I guess the real bottom line question is does anyone have this working with a cellphone number, or is it even possible?
You could try a cell dock ...don't know for sure if it would work.

Sorry-I haven't run it in awhile. I had it working on 2 MVPs and 3 PCs. I think 6.1 was the last version of Sage I ran it on. I know other people are running it.

ok. I got it working on the server with the modified port yak. I see the instructions on how to make it work for placeshifter and MVP (haven't tried it yet). How do I make it work for the client? Do I just put a yak listener or do I need the modified port yak listener (cuz I don't see one).

I used the normal yak listener and assign regular ip address of client and the yak listener picks it up but not the sage. But I don't see the options in the sage on the client or server like this: http://sageplugins.sourceforge.net/n...up_options.jpg

Import the plugin and use it in the Default STV. Those settings should show up fine and are usable. In SageMC the settings never seemed to work right. Once you get those settings they are also stored in the sageclients.properties file. You can alsways cut and paste them to other clients.

Have YAC installed and working on my sage server, and the plugin for caller I.D. on default STV installed on my clients. Any way to make the call notification larger. It is kind of small on my 55" 1080i in my main vewing room.

size?

Yes any way to adjust the size of the popup? On the new sagemc it does not show all of the numbers and the icons are not there for stop or pause?

Does anybody else have the problem when the MVP or HD extender is powered off the caller id plugin stops working? The only way to get the plugin working again is to re-start SageTV. Any suggestions?

MVP?

Ok, so I got this to work with the placeshifter software, but it's not working on the mvp. When I try to load it, it erases the settings from the properties file.... any ideas?

Try shutting down the Sage TV Service or exit the SageTV program before you edit the file.

I'll give that a shot, thought I had done that. Also, it's NOT working on the placeshifter software either. Should it bind to the ACTUAL ip of the box/mvp (192.168.1.x) or the localhost (127.0.0.1)?

Ok, for the sake of IDIOT PROOFING (Or in my case, making it a little more clear), to get this working on the MVP, in each of the MVP client files, for the ip address you listen to it's the SERVER'S ip, not that of the MVP. Then in YAC, you tell it the port you selected, but AGAIN use the SERVER'S IP! Hope this helps anyone having issues like me!

Question regarding making a similar plugin for a different use. I have been playing with EventGhost and got it setup to display the Volume of my Denon receiver in an OSD, which works rather well except for the fact that I need SageTV in FSE mode to not get tearing. So I was thinking I can have EventGhost send a network message to anywhere. I just need SageTV to take the message and display it to the screen much like your callerid popup. However I would want it to be much smaller and have a timeout of about 1 second. The other trick part is usually a user presses and holds the volume buttons which would send many messages quickly, would want to be able to have the OSD stay up and just refresh the content if another message is received before the timeout expires.

So not ever written a sagetv import, I am interested in trying this out. Question to neilm is if you think this is remotely possible and if so is it ok to use your stvi as a starting point?

Thanks

So I never bothered with this plugin because I use YAC listeners on all my Sage client pc's which was perfectly sufficient and in fact an awesome benefit of watching TV on an HTPC. But, now I have an HD-PVR and have upgraded my Sage cients to HD-100. Playback is great, but I lost one of my favorite features, callerid (and one that significantly bumped up the WAF!!).

I've been trying to get this plugin to work with inconsistent results. I did get it working at one point on the extender and then on a powerdown and restart it disappeared, similar to what other people have been experiencing.

Given the HD-PVR is perhaps causing renewed interest in the HD-100 extender, I wonder if anyone (nielm?) can revisit this plugin to figure out why it doesn't work consistently on the HD extender.

And as a message to Sage, any chance we can get callerid support built-in to Sage? This is such a terrific feature, albeit best for us coach potatoes!

Bump for appelm's suggestion. Anyone make a tweak or three to get this working on the HD extender?

I need to ask a question that ya'll may know the answer to before I go try to figure this out...Could this possibly work through the network with a VOIP telephone service..?

Both of my telephone lines are VOIP...The telephone is connected directly to the VOIP router and there is not any telephone wiring in my house. Both VOIP routers are not even close to the HTPC (even though I guess I could figure out how to get them close)... I would think that since VOIP is "in the network", then the caller ID info would be easy to capture and then throw up on the TV.

Comments?

Well my phone is also voip.. doesn't really make any difference I think. But I don't know of any easy way to get the callerid info directly from the ip, rather than the old-fashioned way of using a modem. I have the router near a computer that has a modem.. I just feed the phone line into the modem to capture the callerid. If your computer is not conveniently located, there are wireless extenders that would let you bridge the gap.
