I want to throw out an idea which I've had floating in my head for years. I'm not sure if it'sbeen mentioned before, but here I go. Why has to anyone created a software tuner taking a stream from say direct TV on the computer and been able to use that through sagetv? I'm assuming it would be fairly easy to capture the video once it is streaming on the computer. I guess the issue would be getting sagetv to select the appropriate stream...
it would be cool if sagetv could display the app within its interface or the website... just a thought. |

That's essentially what PlayOn does - it plays back an internet stream in a hidden browser window, and captures and encodes the video.

Software's not the problem with DirecTV, it's hardware, there's no hardware to receive and decrypt the signal.

I think the OP was referring to capturing streamed content directly from Directv.com, not via their receivers.
