DVD playback again

I could swear I had a Play DVD menu on my HD extender at some point.

It sure isn't there tho.

I'm trying to play DVDs on the server's DVD drive. Do I need to mount the vobs as an import directory? That's not required on the client software. I'd much rather have the extender see it as a full DVD like the SageTV Client does with DVDs. The remote has a dvd menu button as well, so it seems like I've just messed something up on the server.

I'm running as a service if that matters.

I swear that someone has asked this, but I either got back mongo search results or unrelated crap. Probably find the answer 30 seconds after posting this.

Thanks,
Mark

Hmmm, need to test this but what happens if one has multiple players and only one has a dvd in it...

It may have accidently been there at some point, or maybe using SageMC, but it's not supposed to be there on the extenders.

Yes you need to set the server's DVD drive as an import directly, the extender doesn't have a DVD drive to play the DVD from. Further this only works for unencrypted DVDs.

That's because SageClient runs on a PC with it's own local DVD drive and with CSS-capable decoders. The extender doesn't have a DVD drive, and beyond that it neither has a CSS-capable decoder, nor will a CSS license allow sending a DVD over a network.

Nope you haven't. I think if you import it, it will show up as a "DVD" in the Media Library, not individual files.

Thanks. Must have been playing the client thru the tv before.

Interestingly, if I send it the command to play a dvd (using nielm's webserver), it tries and fails with a playback exception.

Anyway, will do the import thing.

Thanks again,
Mark
