Java: Too many open files

I have SageTV running on Ubuntu server, however I notice anytime I jump between buttons on the SageTV menus or even arrow through the Program Guide, I receive the following error:

Wed 9/6 0:23:24.405 Error exceuting PM of:java.io.IOException: java.io.IOException: Too many open files

If I move to another selection, another error. It also happens occasionally just sitting there (no movement on screen) Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated

Try upping the number of allowable open files, by running the following commands

echo 8192 > /proc/sys/fs/file-max
echo 12288 > /proc/sys/fs/inode-max
