How long for Intelligent Recordings to get scheduled?

I recently added three new tuners to my system bringing the total number of tuners to 8. After this upgrade I notice that it takes several days for Intelligent Recordings to be scheduled. That seems like a very long time. Is this normal? Is anybody else seeing this?

Haven't used IR is a very long time - but I don't believe it should take that long at all - next time the scheduler is kicked off it should populate all tuners. Scheduler should have been kicked with any modification of a favorite, or EPG update.

I am getting a lot of "lineup lost from EPG server" errors. I think every time this happens the IR scheduling process gets cancelled and restarted. I need to do more testing to find out for sure.

Not sure.. I don't think the post-EPG-update schedule kick is until after the EPG is entirely unpacked and integrated into the database (because frankly, scheduling before that is a waste of time), so if you are never completing the EPG update, I'm wondering if anything is getting scheduled at all (until something else triggers it - a favorite change, a channel/lineup change, an encoder going on or offline, or the periodic maintenance timer).

Favorites get scheduled within a minute of Sage starting. I rebooted my machine 20 minutes ago and so far no IRs are scheduled. I'm going to time it and see how long it actually takes.

Check to see if limited_carny_init=true. If so it can take quite some time before the IR is populated. You can read more about it here. I set mine to true a long time ago because I got tired of how long it took for Sage to be usable after a restart. It really speeds up the startup process, but greatly increases IR population for me.

The link in the post I pointed to above had additional information about startup time of IR and how the setting affects it.

Yes, I set that to true for the same reason as you.

And I double checked, it does take several days for my IRs to get scheduled.

It may be the same service that's providing the data to Google, but I'm guessing it is a different physical server that's parsing it out to Sage users.

OK, I want mt Intelligent Recordings back

My server needs to be up for about a week before IRs get scheduled, this can't be right. The only change I made was to add a couple of recording sources (an old HDHomeRun).

I am getting consistent "Channel lost from the EPG server" errors and other EPG related errors (lineup lost mostly) and am thinking this is the root cause of the issue, but I'm really not sure.

If I call GetSuggestedIntelligentRecordings() I get a null response. That doesn't seem right either.

I started writing a plugin to work around this issue but then stopped because I'd rather fix the issue.

How can I debug this? IR is one of my favorite things about Sage.

If the lost lineup messages persist, please search your EPG for "no data" and see when the first instance of it occurs in the schedule. It should be 10 to 12 days out, with the occasional one or two in between.

If you have more than a few "no data" records between now and 10 days out, then I'd recommend that old EPG fix from Andy's guide;

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...704#post119704

What you're experiencing would be very frustrating, needs to be resolved.

I did discover my wiz.bin somehow became corrupted I had to delete it to resolve the issue (and lost 10 years of watch history ) The good news is that it shrunk from 175 GB to 60 and Sage feels a bit snappier.

While I was at it I built a new Sage.jar and stuck my license key in the Windows environment variable as prescribed for v9. So far I have not seen any EPG errors. Maybe that was a contributing factor? The instance uptime is 3 hours and 9 minutes and still no IRs scheduled.

I've never tried using IR (or v9 for that matter), but if you're on a clean wiz.bin, then it might make sense that Intelligent Recording isn't going to populate for a while, until it learns your viewing habits?

You have a recent backup of your wiz file before corruption, when IR was still working correctly?

15 hours and 38 minutes - still no IRs

The good news is that my "lineup lost from the EPG server" messages have gone away.

The bad news is that the data for NBCSN is displaying incorrectly and this the channel covering the Tour du France which I want to record Argh! (The guide is displaying the episode details but not the show title. Very odd.)

I have backups. I wanted to make sure the odd ball IR behavior wasn't being caused by a corrupt, or too large, wiz.bin.

Update: Still no IRs. I think something is broken in the core. I'm not sure I have the core skills to debug this. Anybody care to point me in the right direction?
