Question Digital Cable, HD and all this new stuff..what to get?

I currently have a very stable SageTV rig. With 3 tuners for anolog.

We switch over tonight to all digital in my area.

If it wasn't for the channel swaps and the fact many are in 720p or 1080i, I wouldn't change anything.

I can't tune channel "45.1" with my current cards, not to mention the program guide does not reflect the new channels yet.

What is the most cost effective way to update my system? I don't care if the 720p gets scaled down to 480i, starting with a better signal than the current cable is bound to look better than what I get now.

Whats the best card(s) to have for digital cable, where not all channels are in true HD.

Thanks

Raymond

Let's cover a few of these....

First off, when you say your area is going digital tonight, are you talking locals or your whole analog cable system? Many cable companies aren't shutting off their analog feeds to houses so it doesn't matter if locals go digital...

Secondly, do you know if your cable channels are available via clear qam or are they encrypted?

If you are going digital cable and all your channels are encypted then you have to hook a cable STB to either the composite/svideo connectors on your PVR150's, this will record everything in 480i (even the HD channels) or you get an HDPVR and connect the component outputs from your STB to it for true HD capture.

These are your options....
