Looking for hardware to stream Netflix and play files from the LAN files

I picked up a Sony Blueray player that can also stream Netflix. The SageTV / PlayOn method does work, but periodically quits working and has to be fixed. The hardware Netflix streaming solution backs up SageTV / PlayOn. The menu system on the Sony Blueray player is very barbaric and crude compared to SageTV.

The Sony Blueray player cannot play files from my local area network. It does have a USB jack like the Roku box, so it can probably play files off of one hard drive.

Does anyone know of a stand-alone box that can stream Netflix and play files from the local area network?

Dave

There is also a potential software solution if you'd like to avoid adding another hardware component.

I have a Sony Bluray player and have PlayOn installed on one of the machines on my local network. I have PlayOn configured with the local media option and have added my video directories to the PlayOn local media list. To play local media using the Sony Bluray player, all I have to do is select the PlayOn Server from the Sony menu and then select the video file I want to watch.

Thanks for both suggestions! I already have PlayOn, so I'll try that first. I will also check out the WD Live.

Just got myself one of the new WD Live Streaming units from Newegg. More or less the size of the HD300 - squarer and maybe a bit smaller. Having high hopes for the box to access my media and recorded TV, where I don't really need live or scheduling access..
