HD200 extender, local usb ?

Using my HD200, in standalone mode I can plug in a usb hard disk / thumb drive etc, and get access to the files, no problem.
Mostly I am using the HD200 extender in Sage client mode, but the extender doesn't detect when I plug in a drive.
I don't want to stream my (longterm) video collection across the network if it can just sit there local. I don't want to reboot each time I want to watch something on the local usb hd. I want the sage client running on the extender to let me see the local files in the video import area or whatever.
Any chance this is going to be possible?
