Have you tried turning off the OTA data scanning? Suspecting it’s not the issue is one thing but why not just turn it off to be sure. There is no downside.

Is Kaffine something you can see the OTA data in? That’s where you’re seeing little to none? Where I’m at, all of the stations have at least a couple shows’ worth.

I'm seeing this too. I have my scheduler set to look 14 days in advance. I'm going to change that to 2 or 3 to see if that helps.

[I work for Schedules Direct]

If someone opens a ticket with us indicating that the schedule is wrong, I pull the server-side version of the schedule and send it to the user.

If it's correct, then that means that there's something going wrong on the user's side.

If it's incorrect, then that's something that we then take back to our upstream provider.

I dont understand why the epg data is getting corrupted. I have reinstalled program from scratch & when downloaded it has errors in it. Not sure if something is wrong at my end or the feed is corrupted when it is populating my install. is it possibly a contaminated java install? that is the only other piece of software that remains the same in setup? so unless i uninstall that & reinstall along with the sagetv files I dont know how to fix this mess. It was good for so long & now chaos. I was wrestling with drivers in linux & a malfunctioning card. That has been resolved for the most part so on to the next moving part in this saga. ( I have ended up changing linux distro with different kernel & it seems to behave there so far till I add the sagetv back re getting drivers to function properly in kernel & os) I have worked with this in Win 10 as well. what factors/settings can affect the epg feed & population? oh & after changing to new distro kaffeine is working properly ( meaning i get schedule data) so i suspect it is partly driver/hardware issue & how they all play together.

Today's epg around supper time is also scrambled on one station & 11 pm ish on another. I am comparing my sagetv guide with zap2it data online. the data seems to be skewed at supper hour when news is on & 11 pm onward. Maybe the universe is telling me to give up tv? lol I shouldn't have to spend so much time on troubleshooting this.

The only other source of data is the OTA scanning. Short of a bug in the SD EPG SageTV code, I don't know how else it can get messed up. Did you turn off OTA scanning yet?

Maybe you can ask someone on this forum if they'd be willing to replicate the issue; they contact you through PM, you provide your postal code, they add it to their configuration and see if they're experiencing the same issues?

(If someone wants to help and it would make you exceed your 4 lineups then contact me and I can temporarily increase the number of lineups you can use on your account.)

Letting you know that after reinstalling Sagetv to a different Linux os - Mx Linux with Open Jdk 8 all my epg corruption issues seem to be fixed. Maybe there were changes on Schedules Direct end too? Crossing fingers that fix stays & all returns to normal again.

Issues still happening. It has nothing to do with the OTA feed. The issue is coming from the imported recordings & their metadata. I don't understand how the recordings metadata can be so easily corrupted & compromise the epg data.
I am in the process of converting to an all linux system with hdd in ext4 format since the drive partition doesn't need to be defragmented unlike the ntfs ones. I know the ext4 aren't foolproof, but they are an improvement in design over ntfs format.

Right now am going to convert all my hdd used for media to ext4 (linux side) instead of previous ntfs. Since it is less likely to fragment files I will see if that helps my cause re metadata corruption as well as produce smoother playback. I know that you need to move files around if you are running comskip. THat will be my next area to target once I reconfigure my setup. ( I need to do it anyways to add encrypted drives to the mix for privacy/business use, so not just for Sagetv am I doing all this. ) I hope it all pays off in the end.

update on epg data issues

I have been running trouble free with a Linux server for awhile now. I have weeded out most if not all of my recordings with corrupted metadata. I don't get the issues I was experiencing before now. I added more HDD space to the mix & converted them to ext4 (rather than NTFS) so that might have helped my cause. I noticed that we only get 14 days of data now instead of the previous option of 21. Is that a permanent change across the board or a regional thing? I kind of liked having the longer data window, so that can setup future recording schedules further ahead without needing to babysit it so frequently. I will accept what I get if it means no incorrect schedule. Now if I could get that Comskip working in Linux, I wouldn't miss old Win 10 server one iota. Good riddens, Microsoft! I haven't had much luck running programs in wine, but will take another crack at it.

comskip can be compiled natively for Linux (no wine needed). https://github.com/erikkaashoek/Comskip has details.

How much data you get depends on your region and data provider. Schedules Direct is still supplying about 3 weeks of data for most US locations as far as I know.

Sage has a setting to determine how far in advance to schedule recordings. This used to default to one week, but I believe it defaults to two weeks now. Personally I like to keep this at 8 days. If you set this too large it takes too long for the scheduler to process changes and you are more likely to encounter conflicts.

The plugin will support running comskip natively but running under wine works extremely well. I run it under wine on my Linux server.

I've had it running (on my Linux server) both ways also, I was just letting Galaxysurfer know there is a non-wine option that might be easier to set up, since he mentioned he had had issues getting things running under wine previously.
