Noticed Wording error on "Favorite Options" in 2.2.2 beta

When creating a new Favorite from the Live TV Guide, there are two favorite options, "Start Padding" and "Stop Padding".

When adjusting Start Padding, and you use the left arrow key, it says all times are "later", but shows as a negative number when returning back to the Favorite Options screen. Right arrow is opposite.

The Stop Padding does the same thing.

I think that's actually correct. When you go into the padding, say start padding for example.

If you move arrow left, the number will increment 1, 2, 3 minutes LATER, however this is actually a negative padding. Generally possitive padding means start the show early or end late, and negative padding means start late or end early.

Yea, this seems backward to me too. It works but it uses "negative" logic.

Think of the current functionality this way:

Start Padding: How much time to you want to add to the start of a show to extend the total recording time? A positive number extends the recording time, so it starts recording earlier. A negative number given as an answer would mean that you want to reduce the total time for the recording, so it starts recording later.

End Padding: How much time to you want to add to the end of a show to extend the total recording time? A positive number extends the recording time, so it stops recording later. A negative number given as an answer would mean that you want to reduce the total time for the recording, so it stops recording earlier.

It has worked this way for quite a while, so it isn't new to v2.2.2.

I would say the only thing that feels strange to me is for start padding I feel like pressing left should make it start earlier (add positive padding)

I can agree this is backwards and for manual recordings it works correctly

Agreed, it should work just like a "TimeLine". Left goes back in time, right goes forward in time. It just seems wrong in SageTV regardless of how long it's been this way.

Yeah -- just because that is the current functionality doesn't mean it is the 'correct' way to do it. Submit a request that the arrow time directions get changed to be consistent on all those padding screens. Who knows... maybe Frey will decide to change the default STV.

The difference is that in manual recordings you are changing the start/stop times directly whereas in favorites, you are changing the amount of padding...

I thought it was odd too, but thinking about it, the other way may also seem odd too some people!

There wouldn't be any confusion if there was a graphical indication of what is happening to the timeline. You'd just hit buttons til it looked right and get on with life...(a few may wonder why +/right whatever means less etc. but they too would shrug or "get it" and .... get on with it.)

Actually a clear text description would suit me just fine, but I must be "out of it" or something...
