Creating a backup of the forums
At the time of wrtiing this we have no idea what is going to happen to sagetv. And with no firm ( and time bound ) assurances from sagetv we don't know how long sagetv forums will be around for.
The forums contain a lot of useful information, how to guides and plugins etc. I was thinking what with a major change in ownership and possibly a big change in direction it might be an idea to create a backup of the forum and all it's useful information just in case. I do not have the technical ability to create a forum backup and I hope it's not neccessary. But perhaps we should consider trying to preserve the useful sagetv information. Perhaps we should hope for the best but we should also prepare for the worst just in case. Any thoughts ? Anyone with the skill to create a back up ? Any one from sagetv willing to make a definate time bound commitment to the continuation of the forum? |

That is a good idea, I think Opus4 is head admin of the forum, so he would be the one that has access to the database backups. That would be the correct way to backup the forum and moved it to a new forum. Otherwise, it seems like a daunting and impossible task to manually backup every single posts.
