Music library issue after rebuild

I had a fully working SageTV system for a long time on windows (win 7 32bit). That install was upgraded from v7 to v9 some time ago with no issues. I am in the process of moving the server to a more powerful machine running Ubuntu 64 bit OS. Most everything is working except the music library shows only one album and 4000+ 'Unknown" songs. The audio files do play but obviously the genre filters etc don't. I am not sure why this didn't show up on the windows system originally but removing the music directory re-scanning and then re adding the same folder results in the same single album and 4000+ unknown tracks even on the previously good windows installation.

I suspect the v9 is reading the ID3 tags (which are embedded in the files, i checked) differently than when v7 scanned them originally.

Does anyone know what changed an/or can you recommend a good batch processing method to fix the tags so v9 can see them?
