DVD Playback on a 2600 Pro AGP
I recently purchased a Visontek 2600 Pro AGP card for my HTPC. This being my first ATI card I would like to say the picture quality is much better than my previous Nvidia 6200.
On to the issue at hand. Using the 8.41 drivers of the VT site, and Power DVD 6 if I get instant freezes if i attempt anything with PDVD, especially if Hardware acceleration is enabled. I can get a DVD to run with Sage TV, and Nero Showtime 2 if and only if PDVD is uninstalled, and hardware accel is turned off. Now this is the kicker, if I stop the DVD then the whole system locks up, and I have to do a hard reset. I can pause, rewind or fast forward all I like, but not stop.
It will play MPEG 2 videos from my TV tuner card, as well as tune and record vido all day long with absolutely no issues, but not DVD's.
If you are curious here is what is in my system:
MSI K8N Neo Platinum s754 motherboard (Latest drivers, current Bios) MSI says it is compatible.
2600 Pro of course (8.41 Drivers)
Hauppauge HVR-1600 TV tuner
MSI Dual Net Wireless b/g/bluetooth Network card
Athlon 64 3000+
1GB DDR RAM
3 Optical drives, and 2 HDD's
My PSU has 34a on the 12 line so I don't think that is an issue.
If anyone has an Idea, let me know. I have tried everything I know of at this time.
