Is there a way to auto-rename shows?

I have a series that's recorded on 2 channels with one channel giving it the wrong name!

Is there a way to have sage automatically rename it to what I consider to be the correct name so that I only get a single set of recordings? Something in batch metadata tools? Will a matcher do this or does that just apply to looking up the show to get the show's info?

Specifically, I want recordings of "The Artful Detective" to be renamed to (title changed to) "Murdoch Mysteries". I'd love to have the correct file name too, but if it just fixes the show name (grouping), I'll be happy!

Edit: I know that I can do this manually with the edit metadata plugin, but I'd like to keep the show association so that it doesn't get rerecorded and I'd like to not have to do it for each episode.

Certainly, BMT could do this, using an entry in the MediaTitiles.xml.

If you go into BMT, and browse for The Artful Detective, and then do a lookup on it (changing the name to "Murdoch Mysteries", find the correct metadata, and save. Then in the same screen, there is a button, 'Add Matcher' (I think), then do a filename matcher, and save it. That will ensure that the metadata and grouping for all future recordings (once the recording completes), is correct. It does not rename the physical file.

I looked at that and have used it in the past -- but I connected it with finding the correct metadata, not changing the show name! (d'oh)

Right now, the MediaTitles.xml that sage uses is in STVs/Phoenix/scrapers but the web BMT places the updates in userdata/Phoenix/scrapers and I need to manually move them. Do you know where these directories are defined and how they should be defined? (I don't see scrapers anywhere in sage.properties or sageclient.properties). Obviously, something has changed since my install ...11? years ago... (Or, should I ask this in a new thread ). Since both userdata and STVs have phoenix folders with recent files in them, they're both in use so I'm assuming that I should fix it so only one path is used! (I'm at Sage Opensource 9.1.6.747).

So , anything in STVs/Phoenix/ is a system level folder. User enhancements go in the userdata area (which is why bmt writes to that one). Phoenix reads both (first the system one, and then the userdata one). You shouldn't edit the system one, since it might get overwritten with Phoenix updates.

I made an update through the web interface a while back and it didn't take. That's when I found that I had 2 copies of the file and combined it into 1 that then worked. Thus my dilema. But, I don't remember how far back that was -- if that was still at 7 or if I had upgraded to 9. I'll try adding the userdata version back, move most of my mods to it -- and see what happens!

Some time ago, the web ui would just append to the user file. The problem is that if there was an entry in the same file that also matched it would never match the second one. Nowadays, the webui is a little smarter and will remove duplicate entries so this doesn't happen. I use the web ui all the time to add new entries... I can't remember the last time I manually edited the MediaTitles.xml file.
