Sage Doesn't start until user logs into their account.

Hello folks!

I am having a real problem with my sage server where ill come home from work and it will be at the windows login screen. CRASH!

I would like to setup sage to run when windows starts and not wait until I log in, at least until I figure out the problem. That way, if it crashes, sage will recover and still record even though I am not logged in.

Its possible right? as a service?

IMOA, This should be an option when setting up any sage server.

Jeff

You need to run it as a service, under the program group there is a program called, sage service (or something like that) and there you can register Sage as a service. The other option is to have your PC auto login with your username, so if it reboots the computer automatically logs in.

In fact there's a checkbox for it in the installer.

You are referring to the 2nd to last step in the installer (page 13 in manual)? Duh whoops!

I got it now, Thanks!

Now onto trying to figure out whats rebooting my system.. I'm about 90% sure it has nothing to do with sage

Peace

right click on "My Computer" and choose manage. Then look on the left for event viewer.

Are your BSOD's generating memory.dmp files? If so, you can use Windbg from Microsoft to analyze them.

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtoo...g/default.mspx

You need the debugging tools, and a symbol package for your operating system. You then load up the memory.dmp file, type !analyze-v into the console, and it will usually identify the offending process.

I got annoyed my MS auto-updates rebooting my PC and coming home to find it at the login screen, If you use this link :

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_passwords.htm

You can set up your TV user to be able to login without a passwd, meaning it will return to the Sage screen on bootup

Hope that helps

Tim

You may also want to disable the auto-updates altogether; I had issues with it killing my server. I now let them download, but not install; I usually have a patch day once a week where I run them.

Yup - I did that and am now thinking of reverting to manual and doing it myself every few weeks. The PC only runs Sage and sits behind a NAT so I'm not too flapped at the almost daily release of patches. I just had to disable FSE to get the external screensaver working and I don't want constant popups from MS updates

WOOOHOOOO! Thats it! THANK YOU

And I'm going to use the auto login as well just in case of a reboot or power failure.

I disabled auto-updates along time ago when I missed my Sunday night lineup.
