Fastforward not working when remote

This has been happening for over a year on two different systems.
Only seems to apply when watching remotely (from hotel or another house)

For the first 2-3 minutes you can fast forward but after that you see the timeline indicator move while you're pressing the ffd button but returns almost immediately. The video never stutters like it's even trying to advance.
Doesn't seem to matter whether the recording is stored or live.
Doesn't matter if comskip auto skip is enabled or not.
if on the local LAN (inside the house of the server) no problems.
if running remote, doesn't matter if androidTV Nvidia miniclient V1.4.4 or windows 10 placeshifter are running remote - same problem.

One system is Linux SageTV V9.1.10.479 running on Java 1.8.0_191 on ubuntu using OpenDCT to HDHomerun tuner.

the other is now
SageTV V9.2.0.441 64-bit running on Java 1.8.0_201 on windows 10.

I've had this problem for a long time. The original "fix" was to set things to transcode after recording. That worked. Now when remote I tend to use Plex for playback. No auto comskip, but is reliable.

Thank you! I'll set that up. hoping that maybe while 64 bit Sage is being looked at maybe someone can fix or find something better.
