Snapstream Firefly Remote configuration - new to me...!
So... I decided to get myself a little Christmas present and buy the Snapstream RF remote, just so I don't have to keep pointing at the IR receiver to get Sage to work... Lazy me.
Bought one new, installed, all went pretty smoothly except for one thing - I can't get the "transport" buttons (i.e. play, pause, FF, REW, etc) or the number buttons to work.. Seems like all the buttons in the middle of the remote (volume up/down, channel up/down, mute, etc) work, and the section below the transport keys (music, photos, dvd, etc) work, but not the transport or numeric sections. I know all about the XML file that Snapstream uses, I've edited it for some other things successfully, but, for example, even though the Pause section says "control-s means pause" (see code snippet below), it doesn't work. <Actions Button="Pause" Description="Pause"> <KeyAction Keys="^s" ActivationState="DownRepeat" /> </Actions> I left the stupid confirmation audio beeps on while configuring everything just so I could tell if the PC is receiving the codes. When I push a non-working button I get a different tone (we'll call it the "sad tone") than when I push a working button, but I get tones with both so I know the PC is receiving them. Also, I've gone into Sage's "commands" setup and looked at what happens when I push various buttons. If I push a button that WORKS in Sage (like "arrow up" or "OK"), I get a confirmation tone from the PC as well as that button and it's definition shows up in "Show Commands Linked To...." If I push a button that does NOT work (say, "Pause" or anything in the transport control section) I get the sad tone from the PC and nothing shows up on the "show commands linked...." screen either. So... I know the PC is getting the non-working commands... They're just not getting through to Sage? Snapstream's software doesn't seem to have any kind of utility so that I can confirm that the button I'm pushing is actually sending the command I've told it to so there's no way to confirm that... Does this ring any bells with anyone? Better yet, if anyone has an xml file that works with current Sage (I think 6.6-something) I'd be happy to take advantage of all your hard work! Related question - where does Snapstream hide the configuration for the "Music", "Photos", etc buttons? They don't appear to be in the Sage XML file. I'm sure I can find that somewhere but if you know, let me know... Thanks, and Merry Christmas! Todd Last edited by tmaddison; 12-30-2009 at 08:43 AM. |
