I tried another 19" monitor I have and still no stutter. Currently, the Olevia is connected with a DVI cable, so I used a DVI-to-VGA adapter to connect my computer to the Olevia with a normal analog VGA (15-pin I think) cable. There was stutter. I tried plugging in the analog cable to the Olevia alone, and there was no stutter. So, I went back to the DVI connection and played around with the picture sizing (4:3, zoom, full screen) but none of them made a difference.

At this point, I've narrowed it down to the "computer refresh modes" of the Olevia that are causing the problem. G-man, if you are correct and there are some delay issues, maybe a custom resolution would fix the problem.

I'm sending Syntax's tech support an email with the problem and will post if I get a reply.

Have you tried Power strip? you can make custom resolutions with it. I am using it for my setup. I have the Nvidia decoders for DVD playback, a JVC 48" AV-48wp74 for display I am running 1280x720p with a resolution of 1216x676 with a refresh rate of 60hz within that, I am using a ATi 9600 xt with the omega 2.6.25a drivers with a DVI cable.I have the Intel D865Perl mobo and I am using the integrated sound max 4.0 with the 5.1 drivers. I have the same micro stutters you are having and can't get rid of them. I think I'm gonna get a different sound card to use.

I just got a post from someone from the AVSforum who told me to try a custom resolution that was supposedly "native" to the 30". I'll try it out tonight. Apparently, the Olevia is very bad at scaling and you can get artifacts. This is the settings:

For the 30" Olevia (DVI input), input the following settings:

Pixel clock: 74.25

Horizontal
Active: 1280
Front Porch: 48
Sync Width: 32
Back Porch: 200
Scan Rate: (automatically calculated)

Vertical
Active: 768
Front Porch: 2
Sync Width: 7
Back Porch: 13
Scan rate: (automatically calculated)

I have the Positive sync boxes checked.

Foomasta, try searching the AVS formums for resolution suggestions for your TV. For some, I've seen that people have had to tweak a whole lot to get a resolution where things look perfect.

I'm pretty happy with my setup, I just might start messing with 1080i for dvd's to see what that looks like. I just need to get rid of this stuttering, hopefully the soundcard will take care of it.

I still have a stutter after trying the above resolution settings. I'm starting to think I might have a defective tv.

I don't think its your tv, I hear alot about how it has to do with sound cards. From what I have heard on the boards they say this happens because AC3 burst, forcing the video to burst through too, seems a good explanation. . The reason why I haven't done this is because everytime I disable it I get an error when I play back media.

So, I believe I have found and mostly fixed the problem. It was that I had the TV was scaling the picture because the resolution wasn't the exact native resolution (1280x768). Power Strip had a Digital LCD custom setting for this resolution that seemed to do the trick. However, the NVIDIA decoders seemed to choke on fast motion. I had to switch to Cyberlink 6 Overlay drivers which appears to have fixed everything except an occaisional stutter with lots of motion (beach volley ball or soccer seems to do it a little).
