I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the strongest... My marantz is rated for 33 feet and is easily the strongest *I* have seen. I measured out 30 feet and it was still getting signal to the receiver easily enough... unfortunately I ran out of room to go further.

The Marantz is good, but neither of those distances are up to what I posted.

One of the key things that makes the MCE unit superior to others is that it is more than a remote. It is (in effect) a USB-UIRT and remote in one $35.00 package.

I have a logitech cordless keyboard and mouse set (under $30), that's about at it's limit at 10ft. The response is a little jumpy at 10ft but still perfect at 9ft.

I just ordered a replacement for my cheapo CMS wireless kb/trackball combo. Been somewhat flakey. Checked out the MS ZV1-00004 but one of it's system requirements is having a Windows Media Center receiver (for it to talked to.) I don't so tonight I ordered a Adesso SlimTouch Wireless 2.4 GHz RF Mini Touchpad Keyboard. Layout and usage ought to be about like my laptop! Adesso website sells it for $129.99 plus $11.34 UPS Ground, but of course ordered it from Buy.com for $83.25 inc. shipping. http://tinyurl.com/87xa8 Won't know for a week or so how well I'll like it.

I didn't like the Microsoft keyboard. I ended up going with the Belkin Mediapilot and I love it. The onboard mouse is a little bit of a learning curve but not bad. The small keyboard/mouse has a docking station for recharging via USB and when undocked is small enough to not be considered clunky yet it is sturdy.

I have tried the range at about 25' away and it seems strong. New Egg'ed it for 85 bucks.

That's too bad, you could have gotten the Belkin MediaPilot for $69.99 shipped from Buy.com.

I didn't like the base the rechargable kb sits in and I believe functions as the receiver. Doesn't work for my HTPC living-room setup. Sure the Adesso SlimTouch Wireless 2.4 GHz RF Mini Touchpad Keyboard uses batteries but no biggy, I have all kinds of NiMH batteries on hand! I went the Adesso for a cleaner solution & look.

Have the Adesso WKB-4000US installed on my HTPC and love it. Very clean. The receiver plugs into a USB port and is just slightly larger than a memstick. Mounted it in a back port, works no problem from anywhere you happen to be sitting/stranding. The very small profile and light keyboard touchpad works great, rated up to 100' but even with a 55" TV can't get that far away and see the TV! Could move the TV to face the front bay window and walk across the street...
