I just downloaded and installed Sage v3 beta (no sage client) and having troubles changing channels. Using dishnet 301.013 reciever, pvr150, 45 button remote, and mouse.

When Sage3 starts up I select a channel from the guide and that channel opens fine. But when I try to change a channel with the mouse, remote, or keyboard, the channel freezes and never moves. Locked up. Must shut down Sage and restart.

All was working fine with Sage 2.2 and dishnet setup.

Also noticed, that while my picture is frozen, the new channel I wanted to change to is recording. Hope I'm not confusing too many people.

I noticed the Software encoding support feature. Has anybody tried this out on an ATI AIW card yet? Can it record using Max Mpeg recording or some of the mpeg-4 profiles?

Me too on the channel change problem. Using Dish receiver with USB-UIRT, works well in 2.2.8, but picture freezes when changing channels in 3. I went back to 2.2.8 for a while.

Isn't that just lovely... I played around with channel changing & watching various recordings, as a result of the above comments, and also see that it won't switch to a new show while one is playing. I don't know if it affects everyone, but it looks like it only affected playback, since the new recordings continued - they just didn't play. If I marked the new recording as a Manual Recording, it continued recording while I stopped playback & then switched to the new show. Obviously, this is a pain for channel surfing.

For playing existing recordings, if you simply stop playback before starting to play a different recording, it seems to work ok.

Has anyone gotten fullscreen exclusive to work? I tried it on my client. I had to manually edit the properties file to enable it. Once enabled, I would get a video renderer error if I tried to use nvidia decoders. If I used the sage decoder I just got a black screen with the audio playing and could see some of my systray icons. I have a MSI 6600GT in that client. BTW...I also am having freeze ups at the end of a show. I can hit "stop" to get back to the menu when it freezes.

I get the same exclusive mode problem on my system (with FX 5200 nvidia card). Wonder what the specs are for using it?

I figured since MCE works on teh same card, Sage should too .

Anyone try a fresh install of 3.0 in canada? I'm trying it but I can't get the canadian EPG to work. I opened port 7760 but it still can't connect to the server it says. I just wanna try it out fresh with no plugins

Fullscreen exclusive mode is working fine on my 6600GT with TheaterTek/nVidia decoders. Excellent picture. Actually had to turn my gamma back down.

I had this issue with the last version. The only thing that fixed it for me was to use the java that came with Sage. 1.4.2_06. And make sure it was the same on all machines. The minute I updated one or all of them I would get this issue. Stick on one channel. Channel up or down wouldn't do anything. I followed the same rule with this version and I don't have the channel change issue. I did try to use the latest java at first and had the same issue some of you are seeing.

Yea... FX5200 here also and the exlusive mode is giving me errors. Other stuff seems ok though in the little time ive spent.

I'm going to try upgrading to the latest Det drivers for the Nvidia cards, my system hasn't been upgraded in I'd say 6 or 7 months, we'll see if that fixes it .

Bad part is, this is in a low profile case, so my choice of cards in it is limited .

Well, that didn't help it seems . Guess I'll just leave it as-is for now, and try renderless on my main PVR machine after we move (it's packed away right now, has a 5900XT in it, which works great renderless with MCE).

OK, I installed V3 a few hours ago and have been playing with the setup. Here is what I've noticed so far:

1. New options for power management I'll be testing this out on my server this weekend. Poor thing needs a break, it has been running 24/7 since I built it 7 mos. ago. (Never could get pm working properly w/ V2.x because of some Sage polling time issue. Can't remember exactly now.)


2. Surprise support for WMA and WMV I currently have about 700+ GB of lossless WMA files. It would have taken my P4 1.8 GHz conversion system about 45 days (24/7) to trash them into MP3. Unfortunately, this leads to ...


3. *.wma files are not seen by the Music Jukebox. Files are lossless wma and stored as such:

\\server\Music\ArtistFolder\AlbumFolder\xx songtitle1.wma
\\server\Music\ArtistFolder\AlbumFolder\xx songtitle2.wma
...
\\server\Music\ArtistFolder\AlbumFolder\xx songtitleX.wma

*(where xx = track #)

Plus:

\\server\Music\ArtistFolder\AlbumFolder\Folder.jpg


4. *.wmv files are not seen by the library. I copied 2 WMV files for testing to the Video Import Directory (\\server\Video\videotitleX.wmv) but they do not show up.


5. I cannot enable Full Screen Exclusive Mode on client system. In Detailed Setup/Advanced, "Use FSEM" defaulted to No. If I click and choose Yes there is no change. Maybe it knows my video card (ATI 9600 Pro) can't handle it but if that's the case it shouldn't give me a choice.

6. Not all of the DVD Folder.jpg's show up in the video library. I have them in \\server\DVD\Title\Video_TS\Folder.jpg and set them as hidden. Some show, others don't. Nothing wrong with the jpg's either, 2 are identical jpg's copied into disc 1 and disc 2's Video_TS. One shows up, the other doesn't.


7. Cannot disable Numeric Text Input Settings in Detailed Setup/Customize. Pressing Pause during text input does work as advertised. Also, it is easy to press too fast causing the selection to keep scrolling after you think you've reached the right character. Conversely, it is also easy to press too slow and have it lock in an erronous character before you reach the right one.

Caveats:

It's Beta.

I report these issues for the purpose of separating user error from bugs prior to submission.

I have not read the new V3 manual yet. Will do so tomorrow. Answers to my issues may be in there.

Are you using an old 2.2 .properties file? If so, while sage is shut down, delete the lines:
seeker/music_library_import_filename_extensions=
seeker/video_library_import_filename_extensions=
which will allow sage to regenerate them with the defaults which will include wmv and wma

Just tried 3.0 beta. There are some nice improvements.
- The little walk trhough wizard is kinda nice, especially for those that are new to SageTV.
- SageTV seems to launch quicker.
- New STV has nice playback controls, but menus are nearly identical to v2.x.
- No signs of Remote Scheduling.
- Channel changing doesn't work, video freezes.
- True Fullscreen doesn't work. errors out.
- 3.0 is not upgrade freindly, you have to manually replace the wiz.bin after installation to get your database back.

Overall, as I expected, I'm not too impressed with 3.0. I'm still waiting SageTV extenders to debut, that is what I'm more interested in. MVPclient is not working well for me.

Anyway, I uninstalled v3.0 after an hour or so of playing with it. I'm back to v.2.28 now with modified Cayars18E. But I'll try v3.x again when next beta comes out.

Yes I am glad to see I am not the only one with this issue including the screen freeze lock after changing the channel. Its the same exact .IR file that I use in 2.8 but it doesn't seem to work correctly in 3.0

I am using the original 3.0 STV and I have this issue when I upgrade from 2.8 and also from a fresh install.

Also my streamzap colored buttons no longer work and the utility gives back errors.

Welp, back to 2.8 until things are sorted out with 3.0.
Looks nice though.
