Got a quick question about beta 3.0.5
I got it installed. Was looking at a few shows (checking channel changing ) and that was working fine. I was on channel 4 "Dr Phil" when I shut Sagetv down. I had no recordings scheduled on shut down. Yet I noticed in my sage rec folder that DrPhil.mpg was still growing in size (even thought sagetv is shut down). Well I thought that when that show ends at 4pm, it would stop recording. Nope. The recording jumped to Oprah.mpg now (same channel). I did not turn sage back on yet. Why am I recording the last channel after I closed Sagetv ? Did I miss something on the setup? thanks |

Ok so im a bit confused here Andy. Is the HDTV support active as of 3.0.5?
Ive been tinkering and it is now recognizing my HD card but it seems broken. Im using the Dvico Fusion 5 gold card, which is not listed as supported by the preliminary test although I really hope Frey does support it otherwise Sage gets the boot soon as I hate Dvicos software. <sigh> Anyways Sage 3.05 is recognizing the card and options for selecting the tuner show the following: FusionHDTV, WDM Video Capture |- Composite |- Digital_TV_Tuner |- S-Video |- TV Tuner FusionHDTV, AvStream Audio Capture |- Digital_TV_Tuner Selecting "TV Tuner" seems to enable the standard analog tuner only, but inleast channel scans are enabled. Selecting "Digital_TV_Tuner" simply places a "Loading Preview. Please Wait..." message forever. You can force it through at which point you are prompted to select input type (aka Cable/Sat or OTA) followed by a lineup choice. Unforunately once you hit this point it seems that Sage has NO idea what to do. The program will show an on screen channel selection, but does NOT allow you to scan for active digital channels. Im pretty sure that Sage 2 did not even see my Fusion card, so something has changed but it seems to still be disabled (or messed up considering my card is not part of the preliminary test cards) Good luck to others.. Unfortunately I get a playback exception error when using FSE mode in Sage with the DX9b Quartz.dll file. Is there no way Frey can fix this issue? It seems strange that you have to revert to an old Windows file for acceptable playback within Sage with a VMR9/Nvidia decoder combo. The files pay fine in any other player (Windows Media, Meedio, Nero). I know this is covered in another thread somewhere, so I'll go back and read through it again.

agover,
What I was told was to pick Digital TV Tuner, and "Don't Configure Tuning" at which point you'd be given the channel lineup. I'm not really surprised the scanning doesn't work, you'll probably have to manually enable/disable the channels you do/don't get. What you see seems a lot like what I've seen in my very preliminary testing of my A180. Perhaps I'll try and get my A180 installed in my server tonight and play. |

43-1 (HD) WNED 43-2 (SD) WNED 43-3 (SD) ThinkBright However the sage lists are showing standard channels so in WNED's case the PBS is sitting in the 500's, I can remap and Sage is accepting 43 and/or 43-1 both of which cause Sage to crash when tuning to them though. Thanks for the heads up none-the-less. Hopefully someone will send out a quick how to |

Which lineup did you pick?

It showed up as a cut down version of Rogers Digital Cable for GTA. So it has pretty close to the OTA lineup (excepting that OTA we get Grand Island NY as opposed to Detroit) but all the channels are similar. I just went through and remaped CityTV HD and CTV HD as well but neither worked. It seems like it doesnt realize how to tune for HDTV, as Sage either goes to a functioning tuner screen (with a black image, no actual tv) or goes to the tuner screen and immediately locks up. At which point it takes about 3-5 minutes to actually crash and allow me to exit. Last edited by agover; 07-28-2005 at 04:30 PM. |

That's why, you need to pick "Local Broadcast" and then your area.

I think my old install is messing me up here... Im going to remove and reinstall.. It seems to be picking up the old Canada listings plugin instead of the new canada listings from tribune directly. --->SNIP... Ok so after reinstall I actually could select the appropriate lineup for Buffalo NY (which is pretty much as close as I can get without creating a custom lineup. Unfortunately the same problem persists. Analog TV doesnt work well - ie black screen only Digital TV causes black screen followed by application crash Last edited by agover; 07-28-2005 at 04:46 PM. |

Oh, I'm in the US, using the native guide. Actually before you reinstall. Go into your properties file (with sage and service closed of course ) and try deleting the epg plugin line.

I have a crash bug, when I try to go To/From Full Screen mode while a show is playing the playback stops and Sage freezes. Hard to three finger salute it with full screen exclusive mode as well.

I thought 3.0 was supposed to support WMV? I have a good number of those files (since I was using Beyond TV's ShowSqueeze feature), but I'm not seeing any of them show up in my library...
Yes, I do have them in the appropriate file structure.. For one series, I have one .avi episode, one .mpg episode, and 5 .wmv episodes, but only the .avi and .mpg's show up in the Import screen.. Also, I tried Nielm's suggestion in the 3.0.3 thread about deleting the filename extension entry in the Sage.properties file while Sage is stopped, but when I restart Sage, I get the same line back in the file, with no .wmv extension... (I even tried manually adding it, but no dice!) So, they aren't showing up on the imports screen... I am running Sage in service mode, but I wouldn't think that would be causing my trouble... (But, could this be the case?) Paul |

You have to exit SageTV, and stop the service if that is running, before editing the properties file.

Here is another weird thing i noticed since 3.03. Every once in a while Sage decides to start a liveplayback from some random channel. After I delete a show, or switch to another menu, suddnely another liverecording starts to playback.
Has anybody else ever had this experience? |

Something is wrong with the SageClient 3.05 installer. On both of my client systems I tried installing 3.05 over top of 3.03 and both times I got a dialogue giving me choices to "Modify", "Repair", or "Remove" the current install instead of the normal installer. It was as if it thought it was a 3.03 installer not one for a newer version. Niether Modify nor Repair worked (unable to connect to the server after) and I had to uninstall and do a fresh install.
Also, after upgrading the server Sage lost my 2nd of 3 tuners (all PVR250's) I am waiting for a show to finish recording to try and find out how to add it back. It is not listed at all as a configurable source so I can't just go into setup and reconfigure it. |

same happened to me (both issues). I just uninstalled the client completely and reinstalled fresh.
For the capture cards, you will find the missing ones in your sage.properties file in the ignore encoders blah blah.. stop all instances of sagetv and go remove your encoders from that line. Restarting sage should bring it back. On a side note... Im not sure that I could blam sage for any strange hardware issues, but on my server after installing v3, 3 of my tuners actually went on the fritz. They became unavailable in windows and when they came back after a reboot, they were as explimations (no drivers or conflict). Another reboot brought them back to life. Like I said...so very odd.......... I. Quote:

Great catch man. This bug was killing the audio on my PVR-350 and I was having to turn on software decoding just to get audio and I had no idea why.
