I've playing with v3.05. There was a playback problem but it seemed to went away. Everything is working well. I used nielm's STV Import for v3 and it worked great. I could customized the main menu to just the way I wanted it. I also installed the v3.05 Client. It crashed once when I was using Fullscreen exclusive mode. I turned it off since i couldn't tell the difference between that and regular fullscreen.

Worthy note, v3.05 works pretty well with my PVR-350 TV Out. It was acting strange a bit during initial setup, but hasn't lock up or freeze the computer.... yet!! Plus I let all the shows I recorded to run all the way to the end and I haven't experience any slowdown or EOF bugs, the delete prompt just pops up immediately. I don't have special settings or anything, my machine specs are at the bottom. Further testing is needed to see whether the 350 is stable.

Ok, the "key" is, of course, on the htpc, not on the desktop machine. So, went ahead and installed the beta on the htpc. First, made a backup of 2.2.8, deleted it along with Java, and installed the 3.0.5 beta. Went thru the config wizard and all went well.

Brought up the EPG and tried to tune to a channel, any channel, no go, just a blank screen, no video, no audio.

Un-installed and re-installed several times, tried various versions of Java. Tried various combos of video renderers and decoders, no luck.

Any suggestions ??

The system is a 3 ghz P4, 1 gig ram, ATI 9700 Pro, Abit AI7 mb, two Seagate 300 gb hd's, 2-Haupauge 150's, one Haupauge 500, and one empty slot where the MyHD 130 used to be.

Ken,
I copied and moved my 2.2.8 and then installed 3.0.5 over the original 2.2.8... It picked up all the settings (channels, tuner, remote button mapping, etc.). You might try putting back a copy of 2.2.8 and installing over it.

The Options menu was then displayed UNDERNEATH this new menu. When I told the new menu to NOT delete the file, the entire system rebooted.

On reboot, I tried to reproduce the error but was unable to get it to happen again. On the other 5 programs, I always got the new menu asking me to delete the file or not though the length of time it took the menu to appear seems to vary quite a bit.

Selecting to NOT delete the file returns Sage to the main menu BUT the program is apparently still being watched. I have to navigate back to the program view and then use the Options menu to Close the file whiich returns me to the main menu with nothing being watched.

Concerning the length of time it takes for the new menu to appear. About half the time the Sage Logo appears in the center of the TV and begins to rotate. I have never seen this before so I assume it is something new. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for the new Delete/Don't Delete menu to appear.

The PVR-350 EOF is still not solved, see this thread:

Yep, it sure isn't! That was the whole point of my post. For the life of me I still can't see why Frey doesn't just take a very simple approach to the problem and give us and option to halt playback 2 seconds or so from the end. If they did that ... no EOF bug.

Hey Frey!!! You guys listening??

I will give it a go.

BTW, from what I saw of the new UI, looks good.

I don't understand it either why they do not implement that as a fix. A lot of people here would be happy with it.

But maybe we should shout harder so they can hear us!

Just installed 3.05 and most things look good, except one - changing the channels has gone haywire..

In the Channel Setup I can view channels just fine. But when I go into the guide, or try to change during live TV, behavior gets funky. If I choose channel 5, it works fine and it goes to 005. If I choose channel 4, I get 4311991. I choose channel 7, I get 738471. etc. woohoo.

Using USB-IRT controlling DTV box.

Any one else seen this? Any ideas?

HDTV playback actually works pretty well on my test box with my A180. Of course, since it doesn't allow you to have the A180 tune itself, I had to pick "Dont configure tuning" and Sage just tunes in whatever channel the card was already using. For testing purposes, I run WatchHDTV, tune a channel, close it, run sage, and then pick any channel in the Sage EPG and I can view the channel I had tuned in WatchHDTV. I sure would like Sage to tune the channels for me though

I own 2.2 and installed 3 on my htpc, and wanted to play around with the 3 client on a second PC on my network but it won't take my 2.2 registration info.

I thought with 3.0 you could have the service running on one PC and the client running on another, was I mistaken?

No, but you need a SageTV (for the service) and a SageClient license to do that.

After reading your post, I decided to completely wipe out my sage install and reinstall (since I thought I might have screwed something up with my tuner setup in 3.0.3 that might have carried over). Now, tuning seems to be working fine. Thanks!

Channel Changing Problem

I don't know if this has been reported already - but I just noticed today that Sage 3.0.5 will not force my tuner (DirecTV box attached to PC COM port) to tune into channels below channel 200. I didn't notice this earlier because I mostly watch the higher numbered channels. This morning I chose to tune into Channel 2 and nothing happened. Then I tried channels 4,5, etc. until I noticed that Sage finally began tuning into the channels I picked only once I got into the 200's.

This was definitely not happening with Sage 2.0 (and I've made no changes to my set up since upgrading to the beta). I'm not sure if this was happening with the prior Sage 3.0 beta, becuase - like I said - I really don't tune into the lower channels often.

Any advice would be really appeciated!

Do you by chance have a Directv D10 box?
If so, there has been alot of buzz going around about that box. DirecTV messed something up, and are supposedly working on a fix for Serial Control.

I'm doing a little tooling around in the channel set up screens and I noticed the channel changing problem is in fact limited to my to my D10 tuner. I have another tuner attached (not a D10 - but a RCA DRD486H) and it works fine. I'm pissed becuase I just bought two of them. I was bout to hook up the second one to another COM port (haven't had the chance yet - but now I may not even bother!)

Maybe I should just return them to Best Buy and buy two more RCA's???

Anyway thanks so much for your post - you probably saved me hours of unecessary screwing around with my set-up

I just installed 3.0.5 beta and noticed that VMR9 still causes jumpy playback even with the lastest NVIDIA drivers and decoder. I am also experiencing much higher CPU usage. Version 2.2.8 would use 5 - 20% CPU when watching/recording live tv. Version 3.0.5 consumes 60 - 80% with the same settings/decoders. I then tried the FSE mode and CPU usage jumps into the 90% range which cause playback issues and horrible menu lag. My system is an A64 3200+, 1GB Corsair XMS and a 6600GT. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it ok to reinstall 2.2.8 over the top of 3.0.5?

I added the previous beta's 'additional notes' to the first post of this thread:
Quote:
If you wish to try v3, yet continue to use v2, then you should make a complete backup copy of your v2 installation directories, then install v3 to try it. If you wish to return to using v2, uninstall v3, re-install v2, then copy your v2 backup over that fresh v2 installation.

Ok, installed the 3.0.5 beta directly over the existing 2.2.8 and all seems to be working. Usually, I like to start with a "clean sheet" but this worked fine. Next, installed Malore's version 3 STV (excellent) and finally ShowAnalyzer ver 0.5.1 (outstanding) along with the comskip proxy program.

All seems to be working great.

One question ... I enabled FSE in the Detailed Setup menu as everyone is talking about it, but I really don't see any differences. What, exactly, should I be looking for ? I'm using an ATI 9700 Pro video card.
