Problems with DVD Playback
Ok for a few days now I have been trying to get DVD playback to work. Every time I try to play a DVD it starts to load up the Intro Menu but never finishes and SageTV ends up using 100% CPU and I have to kill SageTV.
The same thing happens if I try to load a DVD in Windows Media Player. I am using Nvidia PureVideo decoder. I have tried 2 different DVD-ROM drives, just bought a new one thinking maybe the old one was bad. I double checked to make sure windows is using UDMA mode on the drive, it is. I also checked to make sure the nvidia decoder is getting loaded, it is. I installed Nividia PureVideo after I had ffdshow on the machine. Does anyone have any suggestions? I also have AC3Filter installed on this machine. |

Uninstall ffdshow and ac3 filter and start with the basic decoder. Once you get that working then start adding back the other ones.

ok I tried unistalling AC3Filter and FFDShow. Still same problem. So I unistalled NVIDIA PureVideo. And installed PowerDVD5 that came with the new drive. I can watch DVDs fine using PowerDVDs software, however if I tried to watch a DVD in SageTV using the Cyberlink codecs, I get the same problem as before.

And just to make sure you are setting these decoder settings for the DVD in the Detailed Setup-DVD menu section. Specifically choose vmr9 for Video renderer, Cyberlink, (or nVidia) for video decoder, Default directsound for audio renderer and Cyberlink for audio decoder and see what happens.

Ok I got it all fixed now. I switched to Default DirectSound instead of just default and that solved things. Thanks for the help.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This fixed it for me too. I've lived with this problem for quite awhile now, and just tonight thought I'd try another search.

Wow I was having the same exact problem no matter what video decoder I tried. Switching to Default DirectSound fixed it for me too. Really weird.
