Jkimmell, did you do a clean install of version 3.0.13? I am stutter free video playback on my HD channels using 2 Avermedia A180's. I am using Nvidia mpeg2 decoders with Overlay. If anything, it appears the video is more solid. You probably wont know what's changed unless its an absolutely clean install. I even went to the extent of removing the frey technologies key in the registry just to be sure.

I dont get suttering even when doing other things in Windows such as browsing the web, checking email, etc; this is when having SageTV in a window.

I am having a hard time getting used to the new default STV. I dont get a preview window in many of the menus (even when set to always). I'm not sure if this is a bug...

I'm getting stuttering on my Fusion 3 Gold, but only on ABC's MNF (out of 4 channels). The HD baseball game is fine.

I'll give it some time to see if it's just that show, and then try the clean install route.

Well, I finally gave up trying to get support for AAC encoded audio files. I re-ripped most of my CDs to MP3 files...oh, well, if you cannot beat them, join them, huh?

Are smart playlists patented by Apple or something? Would sure like to see this added to SageTV. Just makes making playlists that much easier...

BTW, love a lot of the changes not mentioned, especially the new ways to go to full screen and back, and the fact that when you hit the "toggle" to FS/back the menu goes away without hitting cancel, sleep being gone from the full screen menu, etc. SageTV apparently listens!

I do seem to have an issue with unexpected results going to live tv, but I'll have to play with it more before I describe them (and know whether it's just a change in the program).

BTW -- I don't now if this is what you are referring to or not, but there was a change associated with the new functionality of going back to an appropriate media menu after stopping playback:

If you stop playback of any media, which jumps forward to some menu, then use the Back command, the previous version would automatically start live TV when it jumps back to the playback screen. Now, it will return to the Main Menu if you go 'back' to the playback screen when nothing is currently playing. To start live TV now, you would use something like the "TV" or "Live TV" commands. (Or choose a show from the Guide, of course.)

- Andy

P.S. I saw your question about where the Weather menu is located in another thread, so I added it to the "Additional Notes" section of the first post here.

Ever since I've started using V3 Beta (including v3.0.13 beta RC2) I cannot get fullscreen to work. It doesn't go full screen on startup or if I try to do it manually...it just always plays in a normal window. Also, I have a client come up (sageMVP) that is supposed to start up in the tray...it also starts up in a normal window.

OK, I just did a clean install and a little more testing. It looks like it is only studdering and droping audio on WRTVDT ABC the other networks seem to be working ok. 3.0.11 plays back WRTVDT ABC fine and so does AverTVHD.

when are we going to get smooth fast forward and rewind? I know you (opus) mentioned that you thought it would be in V3 before we started seeing the betas (or shortly thereafter).

I switched to the nvidia decoder tonight just because the picture quality is so much better than the sage default. But in doing so I sacrifice nielm's ff/rw import as it doesn't update the screen with the nvidia decoder.

Why not use neilm's Sage Web Server? I've been using it for almost 9 months (since its initial release). It's is pretty darn good. About the only thing you can't do at this moment is play with Favorites.

You can record, you can set watched, you can even see what people at home are watching while you're away. If you really want to mess with them, there's a virtual remote control that you can mess with your wife's head a little and pause the show when you call (yes, I've done this and it did freak her out :-)

It's in the customizations area.

I don't think I ever said such a thing: as I recall, I've never stated that smooth ff would or would not be in v3; I only answered someone's question that it won't work for recordings & probably would for DVDs when they asked about the command.

I'm having HDTV problems also. I get stuttering on channels 13 (KCOP-DT UPN 66.1) and 5 (KTLA-DT WB 31.1). It's also not tuning the correct sub channel on 31, it's picking up 31.2 instead, because everything's in spanish . I'm in Los Angeles, and it'd be interesting to see if anyone else has the same problems with these stations.

Sage Not the Focus

quick and maybe dumb question. I use meedio to launch SageTV. Before this upgrade (v 3.0.11) the focus would automatically switch to Sage upon launch and now (with v. 3.0.13) I need to use the alt/tab keys to manually switch the focus over to Sage. What could have changed between versions to cause this? Any ideas would be really appreciated, as I've been playing with this for a about an hour now trying to resolve this. thanks!

Scott

scott -- thats probably a bug -- the release notes had some focus-related fixes, maybe this was a bug introduced with that?

Re people saying that xxx was promised with v3, remember that this is v3.0 -- other features may come with v3.1/3.2 etc (yes I know this is laywer-talk )

Yes I'm aware of some of the Great customizations and plug-ins that guys have come up with here. But right now I would like to stick to "stock" Sagetv supported features if possible.

In-house supported features that will make my world complete
1) HDTV recording..........Done
2) Online Scheduling......Waiting
3) MVP support.....waiting

Since I'm still on SDTV, I skipped 3.011 as its mostly HDTV feature upgrades. But I'm liking 3.013, nice improvements to the internal menus. Hope nielm will update his Dynamic Menus to include them along with Comskip imports support.

The weather menu is very nice, best I've seen yet. Here are some screenshots:
Main Menu
Recording Menu 1
Recording Menu 2
Media Center
Weather
SageTV 3.0 interface is looking good.

How do you make SageMVPClient start up in a tray? I'd love to be able to do that!

in the mvp.properties file in the mvp folder on the end you can switch between tray is false or true (default is false).

I searched and searched but can't find the post I remember reading... Almost verbatim... So I'll have to believe ya. But that's not the post to which I was referring. Oh well. I'll just add smooth ff/rw to the list of things sage does wrong.

unless you are talking about fairplay encoded AAC or AACplus it can too play it as long as you have told it to look for the association, and you have a AAC decoder. Basically if windows media player will play it with tweaking sage will play it. the decoder Im useing is here. http://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/formats/aac.shtml
