It's not just decoding, it's reading the tags for metadata. This is why I keep asking if Sage really intends to be a media center and not just a great PVR. Support for importing lots of different formats is important.

Thanks,
Mike

And media specific codec selections. I'd really like to see specifications able to be made down to the media or hardware level. Tuner cards should be able to have seperate sets of decoders set per unit, especially when some are software as opposed to hardware (such as HDTV cards)

Don't forget that we hope neilm will fix IMDB import as well. It broke when the Detailed Info screen lost its menu and just says "Options"

Maybe because when you go adding imports then you don't know if problems you encounter are due to Sage or the things you added?

Look I'm not trying to step on anyone toes or start a fight. I just want to use stock Sage supported features right now. We were told that MVP support and Online Scheduling would be stock, and all I ask was if that was still in the game plan

Well, thats true. Can't expect it to be perfect however as as far as im concerned this is the first serious move to becoming an all one one system. It just made the video part of meedio redundant for me as it was something I wanted sage to do for a while. Its not perfect but it works. it will probably improve come 3.1, 3.2 and so forth.

Well, I've tried every video and audio setting without success. KOMO, the local ABC affiliate, just stutters. I had to go back to 3.0.11, and what's odd is the KOMO stuff recorded with 3.0.13 still stutters. So it's seemingly a file/recording issue.

Just so it doesn't look like the questions are being completely ignored... as a follow-up for more questions about what is or is not going to be in v3.0, I'm going to just repeat what I said in an earlier post:

I really can't give any further details other than what has already been listed as part of v3.0, RC2. (RC means "Release Candidate", so what you see in RC2 is pretty much what v3.0 will have.) Additional features will be listed as they are released in future versions.

Please feel free to submit bug reports and/or feature requests to SageTV. While some of the developers read the forum and may note suggestions at times, the forum is not monitored to keep detailed lists of such things.

I've noted a lot of the things mentioned have been changed--mainly menu type issues. It's greatly appreciated, and makes me a bit upset I had to go back to 3.0.11. I've seen the future, and I liked it!

I upgraded to 3.0.13 and with my Fusion 5 lite I'm getting horrible stuttering and pixelation on just one channel (out of 4). I've always gotten some glitches on my Digital OTA but this is completely unwatchable. Picture looks fine in in WatchHDTV.exe or the Fusion app. I went back to 3.0.11 and the problem goes away. I did make the observation that the problem channel broadcasts in 720p, while the others are 1080i (according to the Fusion app anyway). I will do more investigation tonight, I don't now if the problem is with recording or playback yet.

UNIcode support

I see now that sage entered unicode support for VMR9.
In order to use it the user needs to set the following:
ui/use_texture_maps_for_3d_text=false

But,
I am using hebrew, and when I enter the data into the EPG (from the xmltv file) I used to enter it from top to bottom ( "abcde" is actually "edcba") and this worked ok with only overlay.

Now with this feature turned to false (and vmr working) all of the strings need to be flipped again (so that "edcba" becomes "abcde").

If this is a once in a lifetime deal then all is ok and I am willing to sucrifice all the previous data I had which is now shown flipped (althogh, it would be nice to get an application from sage to change all the text in the DB, to meet this new "feature").

But the problem lies in the fact that if I have a server machine which uses VMR and a client which uses overlay, one of them will see the text flipped, and that is a hadicap.

Is there anything to do to solve this??

Also I was told that 3.0 will support RTL(hebrew is written right to left, and as a direct issue the text needs to be displayed diffrently than english) will, it do that?

This seemingly is the same problem I have (I'm ABC also, and the problem occurs even with files recorded by 3.0.13 and played back in 3.0.11). I think that makes three of us now, so hopefully it will get some priority.

FSE is still not working for me. I submitted a bug report with either 3.0.9 or 3.0.11, but never heard anything back...

I've tried all of the various suggestions I've seen.

ATI 9600XT, DirectX 9.0c (with the correct quartz.dll moved back in), VMR9, NVidia PureVideo

FSE is still not working for me either. Video drops out (as in blank). Also, without FSE I get extreme lag on "live" tv but I'm doing a defrag on all my drives just to be certain Will report back.

My specs:
NVPP (current rev)
AXP-M @2.2Ghz
9700Pro w/Cat5.9
XP SP2
3.0.13RC Client
VMR9/3d (obviously)

Aparry/dagar, if you REALLY want it to work, you need to figure out what software component is messed up outside of SageTV on your PC. It could be a corrupted registry entry or a missing/corrupted file needed for your display drivers, directx, or SP2. Of course, this is presuming you did a clean install of SageTV 3.0.13 already.

There is a good chance that you will have the same problem in a different app that uses FSE (like theatertek or Zoom Player in FSE mode).

If you can't figure out what's preventing your PC to use FSE, and you absolutely need to make FSE work, a clean install of your OS, drivers, directx should do the trick.

I switched back to my Avermedia A180 and that has the same problem as the Fusion. But still only on ABC.

mkanet, I hear what you're saying man.

But whiskey tango foxtrot, over? I hope that's not what it's going to take as SOP. Just for full screen exclusive use? Don't games do that? Don't DX9 games do it? I don't have to reformat for them to work. Besides, this is a fresh install, one instance of a Cat install (5.9) and once instance of a SP2 patch. I did an uninstall of 3.0.7 before I updated.

It's even studdering in non-FSE now with the RC where it wasn't in 3.0.5 (3.0.7 had 'issues' in general IRT performance.)

dagar, no directx games don't use "VMR9" FSE. VMR9 FSE didn't even exist until after SP2.

I agree, I probably wouldnt reinstall everything just to get FSE to work. The quickest way to prove that this is a system problem and not SageTV is to install the latest free Zoomplayer (which can easily be uninstalled) and put it in FSE mode, then play a video.

Cat 5.9 sucks for me by the way...the motion adaptive deinterlacing is nice, but stability went way downhill when i upgraded from 5.8 to 5.9, damn that urge to be bleeding edge all the time

now i'm being good and holding off on any reinstalls until Norton Ghost and my PVR500 show up and I supposse I'll try Cat 5.10 then
